It’s just my opinion, though I’ve spent more on MLB than 99.99% of the public. So I shared it with the Dodgers. I’m not devout but was raised Catholic, and am not LGBTQ. But I like Pride Night. I liked Filipino Night last night. I like ALL the “Nights”. I wouldn’t care if they had Christian night, but that’s not exactly a class that has been a historic minority and it isn’t the opposite of Pride Night. Regardless, have at it. I think that we should all be glad that people of various large groups celebrate their identity, whether it’s our identity or not. As for the players and the hats, I wish they would all just have the uniformity and wear them. If it is just the team garb of the day, it’s no statement about THEIR belief. That said, if they feel strongly otherwise, they should be given the option of wearing the regular cap. As two Dodgers did. That said, I do NOT like what the Giants player did. Players just should not write things on their uniforms. That, as the Giants players did, IS making individual statement and can be controversial. So I guess we just shouldn’t have the tributes to someone passing, as it can extend to controversy if done for controversial figures. So just disallow it all, via team and league rules. That’s the simple, clean way to do it.
