Wow @PreetKGillMP @TomTugendhat , a campaign around #morestatuesnotless showing the Britain we are now, having the public to nominate, has the ability to inspire - thank you for sharing @Shahnaz76
Shahnaz@Shahnaz76

Student presentations were also inspired by @PreetKGillMP and @TomTugendhat campaign on Hidden Heroes. Brilliant to see how they have applied the ethos of this campaign to reflect the values of @ASPnetUNESCOUK . Huge thanks for the video message.

I was honoured to be invited to Buckingham Palace today to plant the John Ystumllyn Rose in the rose garden for her Majesty, Royal Family & the public to enjoy. Together with @harkness_roses, myself & @WeTooBB created this rose as a symbol of friendship, community & tolerance.
Cameron Walker@CameronDLWalker

The Queen says the planting of the John Ystumllyn rose at Buckingham Palace is a mark of "friendship and community". John was one of Britain’s first black gardeners and the rose is believed to be the first named after someone from an ethnic minority background.

Today, @harkness_roses and @WeTooBB launch the John Ystumllyn Rose, named after the first ever recorded black person in north Wales. In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth we must ensure that the Ystumllyn Rose blossoms as a symbol of friendship, love, kindness and community.

The video that @georgeherd created about the John Ystumllyn Rose is so poignant. So glad we get to hear from Philip Harkness of @harkness_roses - one of the finest rose breeders in the world. You can see the joy & pride of everyone in creating this rose - bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-wal…

Almost a year ago on the #RHSPodcast, @Zehra_Zaidi told us the remarkable story of John Ystumllyn, an 18th century African who was abducted and brought to North Wales. He became a gardener and the first well-recorded black person of the era to live in that region.

The John Ystumllyn rose, named after the 18th century black north Wales gardener. His marriage to Margaret Gruffydd may be the first interracial marriage recorded in Wales. Congrats @harkness_roses @Zehra_Zaidi & @WeTooBB for bringing the history to life with this lovely tribute

We Shall Tell Their Story.
@TomTugendhat @PreetKGillMP @Zehra_Zaidi @WeTooBB For me its the BWIR - The British West Indies Regiment (WW1) and the Caribbean countries especially Jamaica who donated so much to the war effort yet until of recent years, never been acknowledged or down played.
