For those who don’t know, #CaribbeanLinkUp is a twitter space where french spanish and English speaking Caribbean connect. We have translators who help us communicate with each other.

Here’s my take on why the Caribbean tour had such a huge turnout: First, it’s rare for international celebrities to actually tour the Caribbean. Outside of local artists or the occasional festival appearance, we don’t usually get full, intentional island to island tours.

As a Guyanese American, this year feels like a return to myself. Being in NY, surrounded by so many different Caribbean voices, accents, and stories has made me want to explore my culture deeper than ever.
