Making games is hard. Hell - making art is hard. Add on top of that Publishing said art. Getting it released and put in front of people. A game - especially on the small/solo/indie dev of things - is a deeply personal almost endless stack of subjective choices and decisions. Of pushing forward on “I believe, I think, I feel, I hope”. Of putting a piece of yourself into the creation. Boiling the end result down to counting concurrent players, almost gleefully reporting on something in a way that almost certainly gets readers to walk away with a “yeah that failed” take, isn’t the most helpful thing for the creativity of our industry right now.
