And regarding the strange Canada Post -98% cut, it's based on the included billions of bailout money from previous years so it's misleading it still has the same operating funding as previous years #toc6-7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">canada.ca/en/treasury-bo…

Some really concerning funding cuts in Carney's budget (CRA, Indigenous relations, Canada Post, Public Works, CBC) but what stuck out to me as a transit nerd is: -50.2% cuts to "VIA Rail Canada Inc." +19% boost to "VIA HFR - VIA TGF Inc" (High Frequency Rail)

@BiniIrl So looks like there was a 1 billion budget surge that year. Did they only pay for the chargers in 2025/26? #toc6-132" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">canada.ca/en/treasury-bo…

@BiniIrl Wait the contract worth almost a billion was awarded in 2018, with deliveries beginning 2022. Would that have been part of the 2025/2026 budget? Cuz this is probably comparing to the year before

@VETTE____ Most of VIA's routes will never be profitable outside the Windsor-Quebec city corridor. If you look at the subsidy per passenger on some of these routes it's eye watering–up to over $1000 per passenger!! media.viarail.ca/sites/default/…

It serves a political purpose to create the problem of open air drug use, especially in an urban centre like Toronto. Conservatives can claim that "crime is everywhere!" and weaponize the public's fear. No matter that they created the problem. No matter that thousands will die.

This just in, biking is growing as a revenue source *far* faster than parking. 30% growth in revenue for bike share vs only 5% for parking. It's growth is also consistently underestimated in forecasts vs parking which is overestimated.

Riding on Eglinton West bikeway tonight these guardrail panels have been knocked loose and are posing a hazard. I found the same issue far on The Martin Goodman Trail later. Clearly poor design or install. I'll provide locations for both in the thread @311Toronto @TO_Cycling_Ped

TTC Platform Doors
TTC Platform Doors@ttcdoors·
We've taken the TTC Business case for doors (blue) and applied a 10 cent surcharge for 3 years (green). This would allow for 500m$/debt on 120m$ of cash flow over the three years) - after which it would be covered by the benefits from platform doors (which would be more than 40m$/yr by yr 5)

Not to mention his tone deaf comment that it only took him a few months to pay off his loans because “he worked” As if there wasn’t an exponential cost of living increase since his graduation days & that youth unemployment is the highest it’s been in part due to his gov’s fault

@ScandalousRags The “Indian exchange students” are actually the one paying for our education. Universities have relied on exploiting int’l students with absurd tuition rates 3-4x higher than domestic to subsidize us, but that got out of control so the feds capped it, sending us into fund crisis

@biz_socks So anyone that locks their bike on the sidewalk should also pay a meter, right? Or you guys just get to use all the infrastructure without paying towards it?
