A 13 year-old boy was assaulted in front of his family as they were leaving the Toronto Islamic Centre after prayers. As a dad of a daughter the same age, that angers me to the core. Another member of the congregation was reportedly punched as they were walking home. This is the same mosque that was targeted with racist and Islamophobic remarks and violent threats earlier this year. Our city’s Muslim community, along with the Jewish community and all communities, must always be able to practice their faith, be who they are and come together, peacefully and safely. I’m committed to continue working to build bridges and understanding. I have also been calling for all laws to be fully and effectively enforced to protect our communities from harassment, intimidation, hate, and violence. Let’s support the Toronto Islamic Centre’s congregation and let them know we stand with them. Ramadan Mubarak.

@djhill1900 @JakeLandauTO It is quite literally vigilante justice. If it's self defence courts can decide, but celebrating and encouraging people to kill home invaders is 100% vigilanteism.

It's not vigilante justice when someone is in your home to harm you or your family, its self defense. Home invasions generally last no more than 2 mins so the police are either coming to investigate a homicide or check on the traumatized homeowners. If a home invader dies at the hands of a home owner, good riddance.

Today in advertising: North Toronto Memorial community centre on Eglinton West trying to earn some cash with a video ad screen. Haven't seen that before. I'm sure they need funds, but is this the best way?

Also today in advertising: interesting choice at this convenience store, which definitely carries beef jerky among other meat-ish things. I doubt they have any choice in who buys ads in these spots though.
