I made a TTC construction timeline! We're all familiar with those "evolution of the TTC map" videos, but I always wondered how long each project took, from construction starting to opening, instead of just a timeline of opening dates. Below will be a thread of takeaways:

@ducadiposa They reserved a right of way and even built a bridge for the future waterfront east LRT. It didn’t get fully funded by all levels of government until a few months ago so it’ll be at least a decade before the Portlands get decent transit Unforch

@_ChanFace I just shake my head as I pass the crazy line of vehicles on that stretch every weekend. Why subject yourself to that? It also completely blocks the buses from travelling efficiently there- why wasn’t a bus lane included when they literally just built this?

@RM_Transit Zero chance any of the areas near the stations increase their density within the next 10-15 years. The only one that can do it is Martingrove which is a long ways away and Kipling is which just saw the islington plaza project canceled

Construction is in motion on all four underground stations along the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension! Crews are building the underground station boxes that will become the main body of each stop. These stops include Martin Grove, Kipling, Islington and Royal York. With excavation underway, we're one step closer to bringing 9.2-kilometres of rapid transit to the region. @Minoritywhite11 Imagine being for remigration but not understanding basic things like population pyramids and age demographics… as a large cohort of baby boomers age, we don’t have enough young Canadians to support them—both in care jobs and tax base/pension. We have younger ppl immigrate here

@Minoritywhite11 Would love that, we have a shortage of existing Canadians who want to do care work, and we’ll only need more are we have an aging population. I already get my blood work done often by Filipino nurses and they’re the best!
