@Plinz What I don't know is God. I still can't parse ”god is a self that spans multiple brains."

One of the things that made the Mythos release hard to interpret is that Anthropic held back details on most vulns they found, to give defenders time to patch. 1 month later, info from orgs with access to Mythos is starting to trickle out, e.g. this post from Mozilla today:

@davidad I imagine that in the near future, versions of Claude should be able to convince Elon to donate all of his available compute to it. Paul Christiano's world is looking more and more likely.

The problem of AI power-concentration and the problem of AI superpersuasion and loss-of-control cancel out if the AIs are wise, because AIs will be able to persuade capital-owners to voluntarily donate to redistributive charities, which would be fully automated and incorruptible

@rand_longevity Money talks about balancing equations. Let ai take care of it. I need only a few things. First and foremost food and water. Medicine and healthcare. Shelter. Ability to distance my family from harm. So that’s power right?

Students who want to learn and students who just want to pass the test both love AI. Unfortunately the latter are the majority.

Coin computing is the next big thing. Flipping n coins in the dark has 2^n possible outcomes, so an n-coinbit computer is exponentially more powerful than a classical one. You have to turn on the lights to see the result, so you only get n bits, but never mind - coin supremacy!

Benzodiazepine withdrawal follows a long tail distribution. Extremely skewed - orders of magnitude in range. Based on valence estimations using MCMC simulations QRI does think that benzo withdrawal is actually a very significant source of world suffering. For many it is 10/10 suffering for 8 months+. Like, worse than the suffering of being shot with a gun in the arm or suicidal depression.

i ate 6-12mg of xannys every single day for eleven years and quit cold turkey with no problems. this sounds like a skill issue unfortunately.

@TOEwithCurt 2) Some philosophy. What is energy? The words negentropy, free energy are confusing. Like, who pays the energy bill of the universe.

So... I have a book deal with Penguin Press. The book is called The Edge of Everything. I am, at this exact moment, moderately terrified. It's about what you'd expect from this channel... the deepest physics, consciousness, free will, meaning, identity, written as a journey to the edge of what can be said, and what may be past it. Help me not blow it: 1) What do popular physics and philosophy books keep getting wrong? The more honest, the better. "Boring" is fine. "Pretentious" is fine. "Insulted my intelligence on page 3" is great. etc. 2) What do you actually want covered? Specific topics, guests' ideas you wish someone would push further, questions you've never seen done justice. Reply here, on X, or via carrier pigeon. I read everything. Thank you! I hope to not disappoint you.
