@chdausgaard Seems like a great contribution and maybe helps explain one of the unanswered questions from Achen and Bartels: we know voters are group identity motivated, but do we know how they form those identities and how they effectuate them in political activity?

This matters because it suggests voters are only conditionally sociotropic. It also means the economy may play a bigger role in things like the rise of populism than studies focusing on standard economic variables have found. Full paper: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/aj… /end

A key finding: effects are driven by how the group performs relative to the national economy. Voters don't just dislike unequal growth in general. They dislike it when their group is on the losing end, and they support it when their group benefits. 5/

@NathanpmYoung yeah list experiments are cool! but also have many issues and are harder to implement in surveys than they seem.

I don't know mens or women's preferences and wish we had large well-designed surveys with the kind of tricks we use to get answers out of poeple under dictatorships in order to find out the actual answers.

Fyi er der ikke målt på det samme spørgsmål her: 1. marts (Verian): "Hvor enig eller uenig er du i, at det er en god idé at indføre en formueskat målrettet til de rigeste danskere (top 1%)?" 16. marts (Megafon): "Der bør indføres en formueskat for de rigeste danskere"

@chdausgaard Gode pointer! En del forskning viser også, at folk ikke aner, hvad "de rigeste" indebærer, hvilket taler for, at præcisering af de rigeste 1% betyder noget (e.g. journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.10…)
