I'm glad Smiling Friends ended. Refreshing to end a show before it gets run into the ground. Like an actual creative decision and not just "lets make more money" like pretty much every other successful show.

@LonelyGoomba Absolutely, but I’d say maybe by season 5 we’ve reached that lifespan like they’ve been saying. It’s just too early to say the show has gotten stale. They’re so worried about becoming The Simpsons/Rick and Morty when we’re nowhere near that level yet.

@chittytomptomp Have you considered maybe the premise and general structure of the show has a limited life span? It's not just a case of "well it's only 25 eps so therefore it'll be fresh for longer".

They grew up in an era where franchises were milked for every last penny long past their expiration date. They watched series like The Simpsons and Family Guy shamble onward like zombies, shows which stopped being relevant decades ago and yet still persist because of greedy and creatively bankrupt studios. Honestly? Kudos to them for recognizing this and not falling victim to the same fate. Let the show stay good and end it when it has run its course. RIP Smiling Friends.
