@HumanCinepede A lot of things he talked about in the 90s were centrist/leftist/independent talking points. I believe like many government overreach conspiracy theorists he would’ve deflected right in the past few years

@thirstytrapped Neither. He’d probably consider himself a centrist? But I’m guessing he’d still lean left.

@robbskidmore This is an acceptable but not properly thought through answer. I love Smashing Pumpkins better but also I love Nirvana unplugged dearly. Pumpkins have 2-3 great songs per album. Nirvana didn’t expand beyond 3 albums but the same exists

Nirvana’s music does not stand the test of time. But the Smashing Pumpkins does. So ultimately Billy Corgan won out against Kurt Cobain. Nirvana was hugely popular but I never listen to it anymore. I find Smashing Pumpkins more musical and listenable. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is a truly great album. Nirvana’s best was probably Unplugged. What say you @batcountry1980 ?

@anotherfilmfan Legitimately one of the very best movies of last year, with a heaven-sent performance from Kirsten Dunst.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for the ultrarunning community of the later 90s/early 2000s where the vibe was laid back and inclusive and more about fighting demons & challenging yourself then prize money & sponsorships

What Ho…A Rat!!
What Ho…A Rat!!@WhatHoARat·
Just watched the new jim jarmusch film Father Mother Sister Brother. Made me really question why i've been hanging on all these years, waiting for him to make an interesting film again. It's three narratives where characters drink non-alcoholic beverages and exchange stiff, vague dialogue about the strange nature of family. Nothing happens, and nothing is revealed. There aren't any ideas, per se, and it's only mildly visually interesting. Falls into the anthology film trap of presenting elements that are echoed in the various narratives as if that's a hugely interesting idea all on its own (it's not). Never has a director made great actors seem so amateurish, and i'm forced to wonder if all the glory of his earlier films was largely generated by his proximity to @lurie_john. 7/17 stars.
