Iranian military responds to Trump's threats to blow up Iranian bridges and power plants

@sissenberg @nytimes A correction will appear in tomorrow's print edition: "A headline with an article on Friday about President Trump’s threats to leave NATO misstated the full name of the body. It is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization."

After a day of fighter jets, now heavy explosions are rocking Tehran. Massive, heavy, ongoing. The media are also reporting explosions in Karaj, west of Tehran.

CMA CGM containership passes Strait of Hormuz A French-owned containership has successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first French-owned vessel to pass through the waterway since hostilities escalated at the end of February. According to #MarineTraffic data, the Malta-flagged CMA CGM Kribi crossed the strait on 2 April after updating her AIS destination twice, first from “CGPNR” to “French Owner” at 12:41 UTC, and then to “Owner France” at 13:18 UTC. The vessel had originally been bound for Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo. The 255-metre container ship, built in 2014 and with a capacity of 5,380 TEU, departed Ghantoot, UAE, on 28 March at 08:59 UTC. The vessel is currently underway using engine and sailing south along the coast of Oman at around 10.3 knots, with a reported draught of 13 metres, indicating she is laden.

Does the @nytimes know what NATO stands for?

💬 We should treat this [the U.S. withdrawal from NATO] as a possible scenario and take it seriously - us in Poland, especially on the eastern flank, and all of us, across the political spectrum. I remind you, when I said in my Sejm exposé just a few weeks ago that Poland needs two “insurance policies” instead of putting all our cards on one option, some were surprised. And today it turns out that we must consider alternatives. Of course, NATO is the cornerstone of our security. Of course, we want to be a good, loyal ally of the United States, but we cannot pretend that the U.S. President isn’t saying what he is saying. | Deputy PM @sikorskiradek on the U.S. withdrawal from NATO
