So what's going to be the solve for when teams still tank like they always have, only now bad teams get screwed? Also, what about trades that included future picks that are now screwed because the system changed?
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

Breaking: The NBA's Board of Governors has passed new anti-tanking rules that include expanding the draft lottery from 14 to 16 teams, a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams get penalized with lessened chances for the No. 1 pick, and flattened odds, sources tell ESPN.

@omaradelmavs Most teams in the league could use a PJ Washington. A good PF is the hardest position to find in the league…

@DaneMooreNBA Listened to the pod. There was a lot of smoke for Randle, but not much for Ant and he’s the face of the franchise. Everyone follows the leader.

Most important offseason Wolves thing to me is figuring out why this team has been incapable of developing championship habits during the regular season. And addressing those reasons. All of them. Anthony Edwards on championship habits... “We’ve just got to listen to the coaches. We had a hard time with like processing stuff and going out there and doing it, trying to do stuff on our own. I think that’s our problem... I feel like you’re supposed to build championship habits in the regular season."

What position or player archetype (scorer, shooter, facilitator etc) do you think the Celtics need for next year?

@csl_duke Tatum & Brown have ceilings as playoff offensive initiators that mostly shows up against strong playoff defenses. One of the main reasons the Celtics are so 3 pt heavy.

I’m frustrated to see another Celtics team lose to a team they should defeat. Ime’s team should’ve beaten GS, and the 3 non-title winners under Mazzulla should have beaten their playoff opponents. What are the issues that unite those teams? Poor offensive execution? What else?

I won’t let the expectations goal post moving for this year’s Celtics ruin this season. However the front office has to figure out where to go next, without gap year expectations, so that requires looking at the trends of the last 4-5 years coupled w/the development shown this yr

Once again it’s easy to point at Boston missing threes, but I’m not sure if they even had another choice with the way the roster is constructed. The offense becomes stagnant bc they lack the creation talent to balance out paint touches into horizontal pass movements.
Spacebar@spacebarNBA

The Celtics offense being this good is hilarious They’re dead last in FTA / corner 3s / 28th in paint points They can’t generate the arguably three most efficient shots in basketball, yet they’re still a T4 offense nevertheless

Some really wild things being said on this app. I too am disappointed with the efforts of some guys who are key pieces of a championship contender. However I realize this overall roster is a gap year squad without real center depth.

So under the new tanking rules, the Magic might make the 2nd round while simultaneously having a chance at a top pick? Or imagine the 2023 8 seed Heat- make the Finals and get a chance at a top pick. This seems insane.

@midrangejumpr2 @PranavSriraman Castle’s almost 2 years younger. January vs November birthdays. That’s a big difference when talking young players. Especially with Castle arguably having a better year…

Stephon Castle is a weird player. Obviously very talented and knows how to leverage his tools into being impactful, and NBA fans underrate the hell out of being synergetic with your stars which he absolutely is. But I think there’s got to be some level of gauging his impact properly. The Amen Thompson comparisons for starters feel a bit laughable to me. Amen is outrageously clear on offense and probably possesses more talent on defense as well. Like just gauging his ability to play off the ball and be ultra efficient in that role and be the best defender on the Rockets like why wouldn’t I or any GM in the league think he can heighten that next to a guy like Wemby. And again I don’t want to downplay Steph’s ability to fit cause it’s great but like just seeing those two compared so frequently it’s like Amen can do that too while he’s also just better without the favorable circumstances. A bit of a ramble.

@davidaldridgedc The mid/low majors had them for a year. Why do they deserve compensation? That compensation should be fairly routed to the players like any other open market.

I am rapidly coming to believe the European soccer transfer model should be adapted for NCAA D1 hoops. Mid- and low majors have to get some kind of compensation when they lose half of their teams to the portal in two weeks:
Shane Tuttle@ShaneTuttleNCAA

There are currently 2,901 players in the men’s basketball transfer portal, opening 14 hours ago. With only 5,607 Division I players total, more than half of the player pool is now in the portal.

Ref was trigger happy but I just don’t like JB losing his composure over the refs like that. It hasn’t been too much of problem but it’s enough games where it turns Luka-ish. Regardless of what you think of refs, ability to keep composure is important and he usually does
