With Tua headed to ATL…that gives them two lefties at QB (Penix, Jr) on same team…don’t ever recall that happening in NFL before. Anyone @NFLfootballinfo ? @AdamSchefter ?

I can’t be reading this right. This has to be some knock-off Hall of Fame or something, it can’t be the actual NFL Hall of Fame. There is not a single world whatsoever in which Bill Belichick should not be a First-Ballot Hall of Famer.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Bill Belichick, the 8-time Super Bowl-winning HC, is not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, per @SethWickersham and @DVNJr. Belichick fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

@DisneyPlus why is Timothy Busfield - accused of child sex crimes - now on the promo card for Law & Order? He’s wasn’t a series regular and only appeared in one episode…in 2010. Can you please help me understand why you’re suddenly promoting him?

@footballzebras quick note for you… Hall worked SB 53, not 52. I point it out because it highlights the insane run he’s on - 4 SBs in 8 seasons. I have him tying Bob Beeks for the most SBs in that span, and the first official overall to have 4 SBs in their first 12 seasons

Such an uninteresting set of teams still alive. Was really hoping for Buffalo/Houston and Chicago/not the NFC West

I seriously don’t expect the Browns to host a Divisional playoff game in my lifetime

When in doubt, officials will grant a timeout. Every time.

@1OfTheBackups Swing officials have worked every position through the years. It’s typically decided by individual preferences (Bruce Stritesky preferred swing) and staffing needs of the league. There’s no magic formula, and some years there are no swing officials (most recently 2014)

@footballzebras Why are there only two swing officials, and is it always the back judge and umpire? How is that decided?

@CodyRob10 @footballzebras Alternates are eligible for an on-field assignment down the line, but likely not the Super Bowl as two total assignments is typically the max

@footballzebras @footballzebras question here - If a ref is an alternate for Wild Card round… are they still eligible to work another game or is it a 1 and done deal? Appreciate all your work and providing clarity to all these calls. 👍

@davidroot32 @300KillaWatts I have never seen the nfl or college for that matter, own and IW. They make rules to cover it or say “it was ruled progress was stopped” etc

I think it’s fair to say officials at all levels need to do a better job officiating forward/backward passes in real time. It’s a difficult call, so unless it’s patently obvious the pass is forward, rule it backward.

@300KillaWatts TBH I didn’t see the play in question, but I know replay tries to ignore the whistle to get the most accurate ruling possible regardless of the whistle, and only rule IW when it’s truly inadvertent/erroneous

@davidroot32 1000% slower whistle. However, since a whistle was blown, how was it not ruled inadvertent? It’s either incomplete or inadvertent whistle. In no way should that ply result in a 6 yard loss the way it was killed.

@300KillaWatts Also FWIW, I work in OH and our wings don’t shuffle backward on pass plays.

@300KillaWatts Watch NFL games from the 90s and you’ll see the LJ shuffle backward on pass plays. Staying home has more advantages, and now replay can assist. I’d like to see a slower whistle when in doubt to avoid unfixable errors
