Sen. Tommy Tuberville introduced a new, narrow college sports bill today. It would set eligibility limits at a max of 5 consecutive years to play 5 consecutive seasons. It also allows athletes to transfer one time, any additional transfers requires sitting out a year.

BREAKING: Can confirm that the Kenan Family is still pushing for Hubert to be out. Spoke to a member of the family and was told that they would like a more “traditional looking” coach. Hubert’s recruiting is also an issue. “We want Tyler Hansborough’s not Caleb Wilson’s.”

@Andrew_Forrest1 The playing field in wcbb when she took over was heavily slanted to the dominant programs. She is, hopefully, creating a standard that we didn’t have for women’s basketball. And then hopefully she pushes the bar higher.

You do realize that Banghart inherited a MUCH worse roster when she was hired, right? Also, Dean Smith built the standard that is currently Carolina basketball that we are hoping a coach can uphold, so that’s not an apt comparison…

@Andrew_Forrest1 Better record than Courtney Banghart, but some "standard," sure. Sure hope you were saying the same thing when Dean lost 3 consecutive Tournament openers from 1978 to 1980 and was an 8-seed in 1990 🤡

Like the concept a lot.....I think the only way it will pass is if there are 76 and you allow 4 more teams that are selected (will likely be high majors, but keeps the conferences happy) and instead of 2 reg season conference winners not already in the tournament, make it 4. 2 days, 6 games each. Play in for 2 16s, 2 15s, 2 12's and 2 11's. I think that math works.

The NCAA Tournament will expand soon, whether we like it or not. I took a stab at my ideal 72-team bracket format. (Yes, I know the cartel won't allow this and it isn't perfect. It's just meant to be a concept showing one possibility.)

@Armandoavenu3 That’s outrageous. You don’t earn or lose a blue blood status in 3 years. I will say though, that Carolina has more F4s and nattys than dook over the last 10 years. That’s much better sample size. So there is that.

UNC beat each one of the blue bloods this year UNC has been to a title more recently than all but one blue blood UNC is bringing in a top 10 recruit for the 3rd straight year despite the standard not being where it’s supposed to lately. Stop the nonsense.

@MattNorlander Timing at carolina is due to all the things you said, plus the women's team hosted a R32 game today. I think the admin didnt want to take away from them getting a S16 bid. But expect it to be Monday.

There's disincentive to leave in every profession. Pro athletes have buyouts. Coaches have buyouts. Most industries have non-competes. Making transfers sit a year isn't the answer. But transfer fees? That might work, and it would give mid-majors some money to go out and add players/retain them. Buyouts written into multi-year contracts would help too, especially if schools actually have the balls to enforce them.
