AJ Dybantsa makes estimated ~$10,000,000/yr to play 30 games a year + go to college.
Why not enjoy that & get a degree? Plenty of time to go grind in the NBA for 15-20 years after that.

@McCadeP8 I don’t mind the consecutive years with top picks line and the extra restrictions on protected picks, but overall yeah it’s bad. Makes more teams wanna tank, tank earlier in the season, and keeps the bad teams bad for longer

@ShamsCharania I'm fine with stricter rules on protected picks and even removing consecutive top 4 picks, but after that it's bad. Actual terrible teams remain terrible longer with flattened odds all the way through the play-in teams and the freeze just incentivizes more early season tanking

Multiple sources with knowledge of Thursday's GM meeting as well as a late January Competition Committee meeting told ESPN that the following concepts have been discussed to curb tanking:
•First-round picks can be protected only top-4 or top-14+
•Lottery odds freeze at the trade deadline or a later date
•No longer allowing a team to pick top 4 in consecutive years and/or after consecutive bottom-3 finishes
•Teams can’t pick top-4 the year after making conference finals
•Lottery odds allocated based on two-year records
•Lottery extended to include all play-in teams
•Flatten odds for all lottery teams

@Tjonesonthenba Just abolish the lottery and take away the option to trade picks with protections. There will be shameless tanking but at least the worst teams will be guaranteed a top level talent instead of the rich getting richer (Dallas and SA)

The fair way is to have a draft and a lottery and for the NBA to sack up and acknowledge there is going to be a certain amount of tanking every year and to just deal with it.

@Tjonesonthenba Small market teams get first dips and/or higher (maybe double what a bad team gets) lotto balls. Bad/long injuries get more as well. Is it fair, no, but there is no fair way. At least this way small market teams get first crack at generational talent for the most part.
