Random point for tanking…..if you are bad and have traded away your pick, you are now incentivized to tank to the relegation zone so that your pick is less likely to get a top 5 pick, so that you save your top 5 pick potential for the next year when you own it

I think you’re kind of proving the exact problem with how a lot of organizations operate now… everything gets viewed through spreadsheets, efficiency charts, and data models from behind a desk, without always understanding what’s actually happening at field level… or in this case, on the court. We’ve literally watched highly efficient big men who rebound well and dominate inside get played off the floor in certain matchups because they lacked enough versatility offensively or defensively to stay out there. Even your buddy Rudy has dealt with that at times. So acting like “most efficient shot profile” is the only thing that matters ignores how playoff basketball actually works. Nobody is saying Walker Kessler needs to suddenly become Kevin Durant. The point is that having more offensive versatility gives a team more counters, more lineup flexibility, and more ways to punish defenses. Even if a skill isn’t his primary strength, the threat of it alone changes how teams defend you. I just find it strange that the idea of adding more options offensively is somehow viewed as a negative. But at the end of the day, I know we probably aren’t changing each other’s minds here.

On the flip side. If Walker Kessler truly does become a 37%+ 3 point shooter who can knock down 80% from the free throw line. He will be worth every dime he is asking for.

@Callystarr @laragon98 There isn’t really any evidence of this ever being a thing for any player. It sounds good on paper, the logic doesn’t follow in practice. I am not sure why you would ever willingly take a guy that shoots 70% from inside the arc along with a 16 OReb% away from that.
