Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your prose piece published in the Taco Bell Quarterly. When I say the publication gives pause -- what gives pause is (methinks) obvious & basic: simply its name. Why is it called the Taco Bell Quarterly? Two general answers present themselves to the mind: Either it's (1) an official publication associated with the Taco Bell fast food corporation, or (2) some renegade writers / editors have purloined the "Taco Bell" name for their own use, perhaps inspired by an ironic idea -- particulars of which idea somewhat elude me. My hunch is it's more along the lines of the 2nd rather than the 1st category of name basis. True? 🦜

I suppose it's a notable list -- although the Taco Bell aspect gives me pause 🐢🦆

@HollyPelesky podcastle (fantasy), pseudopod (horror), and escapepod (scifi) are all part of cast of wonders and do exactly this, though sometimes they perform/publish original peices submitted by authors as well.

@mcknight_writes unfortunately they can now ask the AI to make sketches, then upload those sketches to the AI to have it paint them. my go to now is checking their socials. a good artist’s socials will usually have a distinctly different feel from an AI “artist”

Okay, I’m at a loss here. I commissioned this piece, made my stance against AI very clear, and was sent progress sketches by the artist for approval before continuing. I’ve now had two people tell me this is “definitely AI.” Thoughts? I’m very upset. I thought I covered my bases.

supposedly, the shamans wore red and white, the colors of the fly agaric mushroom, and rode around in a sleigh carried by reindeer. 4/5

this monster seen on my walk today. fly agaric mushrooms are both hallucinogenic, and poisonous. apparently, however, reindeer can be used to purify them, and this may be the root of modern day santa mythology. 1/5
