me every time a slop user calls themselves an author or artist and tries to defend the indefensible

I don’t care what genre you write in. I don’t care how cheap your cover is. I don’t care if you use em dashes, en dashes or far too many ellipses. I don’t care if you have short chapters or long. I don’t care if you yeeted your quotation marks. JUST LET IT BE YOUR OWN. My God.

So to hell with artists and ethics and your own creativity, I guess. Another one to block, and not to read or support. Ugh. STOP USING SLOP MADE FROM STOLEN MATERIAL THAT’S DRINKING ALL OUR WATER.

@BookSpotlight I read mostly indie books lately, self-published or independent press. The best trad and the best indies are equal in quality, but I admit I get warm fuzzies supporting new authors.

@JeremyLurks It's an elitist thing. Because honestly, I see as many typos and continuity errors in trad books as I do in indies.

@BookSpotlight I don't understand the resistance to indie books. I very seriously doubt they've "been burned" on indie reads enough that they don't trust them, so it has to be some kind of misguided principle.

If you request a book type on Reddit followed by, ‘No self published books or anything available on KU,’ you are not allowed to bitch about there being no books that fall into your request. The books you want exist, you’re just apparently too much of a snob to read them.

*Finally* got caught up on emails.

I am tired of being told that a good book will find its readers. Nothing finds anything. Readers find books that were put in front of them. The rest just sit there, being good. Here, this is my attempt at putting a good book in front of readers. Now show me yours. 🫶🏻

I finally got back to reviewing my backlog! (By scheduling an IG review post for myself next week so I have to get the last ones written before then 🤣) Really loved this one, perfect for readers who enjoy gothic and folk horror!

@triempery Honestly I’m at the point where people who use slop just go into my ‘ignore’ vault. They don’t appreciate art or ethics or the planet, so I refuse to acknowledge them. They aren’t writers - they’re hacks trying to exploit our community.

@BookSpotlight And yet the slop author sounds so reasonable! I see books as art. A calling. But not everyone does. 🤷‍♀️
