Hey Barbir @Alex_Barbir, I thought as an American, you should be smart. Unfortunately, you aren’t. You quoted this same verse two days ago, now you have quoted it again. If this verse is your only weapon, then you need to call your teacher Dachomo that you have failed again. I know why this verse looks strange to you. It is because you are reading a 7th century text on statecraft and warfare through a very lazy modern lens. But I will help you and others like you who may want to weaponize it in the future. Surah 9:29 is not a blanket command to fight every non-Muslim. That is a very poor reading of the Quran. This specific verse was revealed during an active state of war. It was directed at the Byzantine Empire, the Romans, who were mobilizing a huge army to attack the Muslims in Medina. This was the buildup to the Battle of Tabuk. You are taking a military directive meant for a hostile Roman army and trying to sell it as a random command to kill people today. Thats gravely unfair. Jonathan A.C. Brown who was formerly a Christian and later became a Muslim broke this down perfectly in his book “Misquoting Muhammad.” He showed how orientalists and hostile Christians like you strip verses from their historical application and misapply them to modern society. He called this an academic fraud. And as for that tax you highlighted at the end. In an Islamic state, Muslims paid Zakat and had compulsory military service. Non-Muslim citizens on the other hand were totally exempt from fighting. The Jizyah was a protection tax. The state was obligated to protect their lives, churches, and properties. History records that if the Islamic state could not protect those citizens, the money had to be returned. What is more good than that? Let’s now consider some historical comparison to show your obvious ignorance. Go to Deuteronomy 20 in the Old Testament. It outlines the rules of war for the Israelites. It says when you march up to attack a city, make an offer of peace. If the city accepts, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and pay tribute. If they refuse, you lay siege to it and put the men to the sword. Does that mean every Christian or Jew today is commanded to enslave people and collect tribute? No. Because rational people understand that was a historical context for ancient nation building. But when you see the same concept of a state tax in the Quran, you suddenly lose your reading comprehension. Karen Armstrong, who was a renowned historian and former Catholic nun said in her book “Fields of Blood,” she explained that in the medieval period, every single empire required taxation and military defense to survive. Islamic statecraft was no different. The Romans had a similar system called the Tributum capitis. It was a poll tax paid in exchange for state protection. To Alex Barbir: you are too small for the intellectual war you want to embark upon. To every Nigerian who loves peace, we need to ignore this clown. He is acting more like a spy who is only here to milk our national tragedy for his own hidden agenda. And to media houses such as News Central and AriseTV giving this guy a platform and promoting him, you people are playing a very dangerous game. You will end up blowing up this country just for ratings. Thank you for your attention.

Hey Barbir @Alex_Barbir , When I saw the word "every" in your question, I knew you were innocently ignorant. It is understandable. But let me help you. I will answer these questions to serve as an enlightenment to you and your likes, perhaps the Almighty uses that as a path of guidance for you. First of all, you asked: Why every terrorist organization around the world is Muslim. Did you know that long before modern extremist groups existed, Zionist militias such as the Irgun were bombing civilian centers to establish the State of Israel? If you read “The Gun and the Olive Branch,” by David Hirst, he documented this event extensively. He showed how the 1946 bombing of the King David Hotel, which killed 91 people, was a calculated terror tactic for nation building. For a fact: They were not Muslims. In Uganda, Joseph Kony and the Lord's Resistance Army abducted over 60,000 children, mutilating and slaughtering civilians. You do not have to take my words for it. Tim Allen and Koen Vlassenroot in their book “The Lord's Resistance Army: Myth and Reality” documented how these evil people did all this to build a state based on the biblical Ten Commandments. Read that again… Biblical Ten Commandments. If we now look at suicide bombing, which is the ultimate hallmark of modern terrorism, historical data tells a different story. Robert Pape who is an American like you, but smarter and unbiased documented how suicide bombing came by in his book “In Dying to Win”. Robert Pape analyzed global suicide attacks from 1980 to 2003. And he proved that religious extremism does not cause suicide terrorism. The undisputed leaders of suicide bombings during that period were the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka. They were a secular, nationalist Hindu group. They invented the modern suicide vest and carried out more suicide attacks than Hamas and Islamic Jihad combined. Secondly, you asked: why Muslims consistently cause crises in Jos and why Fulani are massacring Christians in the Middle Belt. You are thousands of miles away interpreting a highly complex sociological issue through a religious lens. Just so you know, the crisis in Nigeria is a catastrophic struggle for resources. According to detailed research by the International Crisis Group, climate change and desertification are swallowing huge chunks of arable land in the far north every year. This pushes nomadic Fulani herders southward into the lands of settled farmers. The resulting clashes over shrinking water and grazing routes have claimed over 8,000 lives and displaced hundreds of thousands. The violence is not one sided. Heavily armed ethnic militias regularly wipe out Fulani settlements and rustle cattle, just as herders launch brutal reprisal attacks on farming communities. Unfortunately, corrupt politicians hijacked this economic survival struggle and painted it with religious colors for cheap political power. Again, you asked why Islamic countries persecute Christians. Alex, history proves otherwise. Albert Hourani detailed in “A History of the Arab Peoples” how Christians and Jews lived under the Millet system in the Ottoman Empire. They ran their own autonomous courts and practiced their faith freely for centuries, right when Europe was busy burning heretics at the stake. Today, look at Senegal. The country is 95% Muslim, yet they live in total harmony with Christians. Their very first president, Léopold Sédar Senghor, was a Catholic. The persecution you see in some Middle Eastern countries is the result of broken authoritarian regimes. Those dictators oppress their Muslim populations with the same brutality. It is a governance problem, not a religious mandate.

@SafwanAlghazal @YusufAsunmogejo @Alex_Barbir Lol. Now you are asking questions? Did you ask all this questions when they were calling a clear land grabbing jihad a farmers/herders? Why not ask all the international organisations that designated groups like Hamas as terrorists organisations why, and who is funding them.

@Pharouq_MG @YusufAsunmogejo @Alex_Barbir I should wait for an international body far away to tell me my experience? To tell me what I am seeing with my eyes? Sha your people are the perpetrators, I know it is your job to defend them.

@YusufAsunmogejo @Alex_Barbir You guys agree with the international group based on what suits your agenda. The same you don't want to agree with the international groups when they call groups like Hamas terrorist, and also when they call the Iranian government a terrorist organisation.

Though condemnation is great, there has been 20 years of condemnation. It is past due time for action. In Nigeria, thousands are being massacred and killed innocently as the government stands idle. Congressman, we beg that the innocent would be protected from evil.
Rep. Riley M. Moore@RepRileyMoore

As Christians in Nigeria continue to face brutal violence and death for their faith this Holy Week, I joined VAT Chairman @Robert_Aderholt in leading 19 of our colleagues in a statement condemning violence and persecution against Christians. We also reminded the Nigerian government that President Trump signed bipartisan legislation that includes language that @MarioDB and I fought for to explicitly tie continued U.S. security assistance to the Nigerians making significant progress in addressing violence against Christians in the Middle Belt. This horrific persecution must end. Now.
