If you’re looking for online work, avoid Valentina @gurobi at all costs. She’s a scammer.

@snowberryfield この問題に関しては PRINTEMPS はとても優秀で、Gurobiだと1時間以上かかっても得られなかった目的関数値の解が15秒とかで得られている。(もちろんこういうのは問題に依存するので注意) github.com/msakai/bnn-ver…

github.com/msakai/bnn-ver…

@JFPuget @mluebbecke @SGoderbauer I'm jealous of the 'machine learning' name. I know it's only a name, but language can really help to capture the popular imagination. Hard to imagine people excitedly predicting that 'statistical inference' (e.g.) will change the world.

@mluebbecke @erothberg @SGoderbauer I once proposed "deep decisioning", to sound a bit like deep learning. After initial buy in from my previous employer, a clueless product manager killed the idea. Deep learning does not describe the technology, but it is a catchy name that convey a mysterious sense of deepness.

@unbearablyhip @gurobi The distinction is definitely subtle, but I've become quite convinced that there is an important distinction here. All the evidence I've seen suggests that ML (including RL) struggles when there are more than a handful of decisions to make.

@gurobi @erothberg Don’t agree that “ML isn't fundamentally equipped to handle problems that involve intricate interconnected sets of decisions” Big successes in Reinforcement Learning, like AlphaGo Zero, do exactly that. Distinction is more subtle: model-based vs model-free, learning vs planning.

@HKKKJD @gurobi If you set PoolSearchMode=2, PoolSolutions=1000000000 (e.g.), and MIPGap=0, it will find all solutions. Note that it will also store all solutions, so this may take a lot of memory.

@gurobi Is the PoolSearchMode (with PoolSearchMode=2, MIPFocus=3) can count the EXACT number of the solutions?

@GregorJ4 @MLindahlDK @gurobi A neural network focuses on finding the best solution to minimize a loss function. Much of modern AI is ultimately about solving optimization problems.

@MLindahlDK @gurobi Interesting article, but the tool has nothing to do with AI since we don’t imitate nature approach like genetic algorithms. It focus on best solution.

Great article by @gurobi Use mathematical optimization if you: 1. Have complex, interconnected decisions 2. Can quantify the impact of decisions 3. Are constrained by your resources 4. Operate in a constantly changing environment forbes.com/sites/forbeste…

@HiltonGrandVac Thoroughly disgusted by HIlton's privacy policies. I'm on their do-not-call list, but a few months after I stay there (every time), my cell phone lights up with 'Because of your recent stay at the LA Hilton, you are eligible for a free Wyndham/RCI vacation'.
