Winning in the blue uniforms will unlock stars AND stripes 🇺🇸 mode! The last gate before we can start the Miracle On Ice campaign. We win on Monday, Balogun is released from FIFA purgatory, and we travel to Los Angeles on Air Force One where we start the European conquest on July 10th. Culminating in our first World Cup final on July 19th. Do you believe in miracles? 😴
English

We don’t know how good Spain is in this tournament because they haven’t been challenged yet. In this tournament, The US (because of home field/current form) would be the best side they have faced….to include Portugal. Of the teams left in the tournament, only France has scored more goals than the US. We are firing at the right time and our best player has yet to get on the scoresheet. If we get past Belgium on Monday and face Spain at full strength (with Balo) back…..we have a great chance to host Spain. After that, it would take a few consecutive miracles.
English

Good point. I guess my heartburn is against a team like Spain (yes, I realize the US has to beat Belgium first, but I don’t see them having the same quality back line as Spain, so US more easily can come back from going down a goal or two). Getting down two goals against Spain would likely be catastrophic.
English

@StanUsmnt Yes, the last team everyone in this tournament, with the exception of France and Argentina, wants to play right now is the US. With the crowds and confidence our team has….at this moment in time, we are world beaters.
English

People will reference the friendly loss to Belgium in the next 4-5 days. Please educate them:
1) It was tied 1-1 at half and I thought we outplayed them on the whole.
2) We rotated in the second half then it got out of hand
3) Even that starting lineup was missing: Dest, Freeman, Richards, Adams - check out the back 7, barely any current starters.

English

@AaronLevine_ Did we discover our national stadium and theme song this tournament? 🏟️ 🇺🇸

#USMNT all-time record playing in Seattle Stadium/Lumen Field/CenturyLink Field/Qwest Field/Seahawks Stadium:
7-0-0
English

@AZDad55 @shinguardian They were down a goal and came back to draw, only to loose in the final moment, which in my opinion was a combination of an entree back line/keeper and Trusty unable to walk on his injured ankle. Tho goal came from his side.
English

Excellent analysis! You gracefully put into words what I’ve been seeing in this team. No over-reliance on a single star, creative and forward moving play, fast and aggressive attacks…just beautiful to watch. One worry though is how do they respond to being down a goal or two? And will a more disciplined team make them pay for their aggression? Regardless, cannot wait for Monday!
English

@6ixside24 I don’t think you know how small a mm is. Sports can be played in inches, it can’t be played in millimeters.
English

@PolymarketSport People keep saying this. No, the world saw a “blip” on a graphic and we are expected to believe that it proves that the ball was touched. Despite not changing direction or spin on the ball.
English

@dawood__97 How hard is it to manipulate that “blip”? That is the question everyone should be asking.
English

@fifamedia @adidasfootball @FIFAWorldCup In what quantum-physical universe can an object with a clear trajectory and a clear curve or arc remain completely unaffected by a strike from a much more massive and powerful object, like a human head? The ball doesn’t change direction or curvature at all
English

According to the data provided by Connected Ball Technology housed within the @adidasfootball Trionda, the official match ball of the @FIFAWorldCup, it was proven that contact was made by Croatia's #20 Igor Matanović in the build up to the goal against Portugal, allowing the referee to correctly determine offside and disallow the goal.
IMU sensors housed within the Trionda ball are capable of determining any slight contact, displayed to viewers in the broadcast as a 'heartbeat graphic', and allowing officials an unprecedented level of data to make fast, accurate decisions.

English

Why would anyone say, “of course I believe that he touched it.” Will it be years or months before we learn that someone can affect the chip to detect movement (another way to match fix). That level of technology that literally can’t be verified by a million human eyes in slow motion does not belong in soccer. Silliness!
English

@PabloViruega Question, who will be the first to figure out how to hack into the chip in the ball and further ruin the game? 💻 🤓
English

@BrettKollmann In a 3 hour NFL broadcast, how many minutes is commercials and analysis vs actual ball in play?
English

FOX paid 485M for broadcast rights for the entire World Cup.
Netflix paid 375M for five NFL games.
Joe Pompliano@JoePompliano
BREAKING: The USMNT's win against Bosnia-Herzegovina averaged 24.4 million viewers on Fox, peaking at 31.8 million. That makes it the most-watched soccer telecast in English-language U.S. history.
English

@Jack0fAllTradz @VigilantFox So did Jordan stop running and just eat to get the baseball physique?
English

@exceptionism @VigilantFox When Michael Jordan went to baseball he had to get a conditioning coach to change his entire physique to that of a baseball player. If those receivers played soccer they would be built like soccer players but they played football so they built themselves like football players.
English

Rob Gronkowski drops his theory on why Team USA always struggles in the World Cup.
His take: the talent was never the problem. It’s where the talent goes.
“I think football, our football in America, kind of ruined our soccer game… because all our best athletes play the game of American football.”
“If those athletes started at a young age, like our wide receivers and DBs, they’re the best athletes in the world… everyone knows in America, you’re going to play football, you’re not going to play soccer.”
“If we didn’t have American football, I believe that Team USA would be a top-three team in the world.”
“That’s why I believe our women’s team is so good, because they get their best athletes to play right from the beginning… but we take away our [best male] soccer athletes, and we make them become American football players.”
According to Gronk, the talent was always here. It just plays on Sundays.
English

@exceptionism @ClayTravis Spain were definitely tinkering their lineup.
If Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal start. The match is over early.
If that match went to extra time, Spain also wins.
The knockouts are a different animal. You’re getting that team and their full attention.
English

@pluffyphil @ClayTravis Spain without their wingers drew with Cabo Verde.
English

@ClayTravis The U.S. should get a winnable game in round 1 but that’s no guarantee.
The round of 16 would probably be Belgium, which would be tough but not out of the realm of possibility.
The Quarterfinals are likely Spain and that’s as far as it gets.
English

@avluey @AmFootballin That’s why it happens after the 80th when Australia is down 2–0….lack of defensive effort. 🤞
English

@exceptionism @AmFootballin If McKennie (or Richards) find the tiny window to finish a header off a corner in between 6’3, 6’4 and 6’6 CBs I am going to freak out lol - one of them is getting one this tourney, just think it’ll be against Türkiye.

@ClawForThatInch Calling US soccer under Berhalter a country club was everything!! This was 🔥
