If perfect mechanics were enough… they wouldn’t disappear in games. So why does a player look great in lessons, but stiff and inconsistent under pressure in the game? Let’s break it down🧵 1/9

Should kids throw curveballs? 🤔 It’s not really an age question… it’s a movement question. When a player can’t touch their toes, can’t control their trunk, or lacks basic coordination—but is throwing 30 curveballs a game—that’s when problems start. Curveballs aren’t dangerous when the body moves well. They become dangerous when movement and athletic skills are ignored. Learn More 👉 BaseballFlows.com

@flowsdoc A lot of coaches care more about boosting their record and ego than they do about saving a kids arm

My JUCO coach had us throw sidearm to ensure the runner slides! What do you think about this play?

After working with thousands of players, one thing is clear: The best players are the best movers.
Their swings are more athletic.
Their pitching motions are more athletic. Skill follows Athleticism and Baseball Flow — not the other way around.

Shoutout to his dad too… Imagine working 8–10 hours, then coming home and spending another 4+ hours getting reps in with your son. Sounds like a dream day—but doing that consistently for 8–10 years? That takes real commitment.
Josh Thacker@J_Thack1

G had a bad day at the plate as a sophomore for us on a Friday evening. That night, he went home and hit in the cage for 4+ hours with his dad, woke up and was the first guy at the park the next morning. His work ethic was absolutely unmatched then and still is now.

Just out of curiously, how does everyone feel about the “Get your Elbow up‼️” cue for young hitters?

@flowsdoc I despise it. Almost as much as keep your eye on the ball.

The shoe that fits one player, pinches another!

@flowsdoc Honestly I think it’s a kid by kid basis. When I work with kids I can tell them to do the same thing and they will do it differently depending on how they interpret what I am saying.

@flowsdoc I’m a nobody. But, I don’t like it when it’s a forced movement. Let the athlete be an athlete. Everyone has different movements that allow their body to achieve a task.

I wish I understood this in pro ball. The game doesn’t reward perfect mechanical positions… it rewards athletes who can solve movement problems in real time. Train movement → the game slows down.
Baseball Flows™@BaseballFlowsHQ

Stop doing more baseball drills. Start building better movers. Games don’t happen in perfect positions. They happen at speed, under pressure, from imperfect angles. Movement before mechanics. Athletic plays > isolated drills. Move better. Play better. 🔁

@theswingman444 You’re correct.. controlling center of gravity, connected turn, dynamic balance, robust adjustability, clean transitions… it’s all trainable

@flowsdoc And where do you think having the ability to FLOW comes from? Being in GOOD POSITIONS is what allows for EFFICIENT & EFFECTIVE TRANSITIONING throughout movement . Using still images is a great way to see how the athlete is positioned at any given moment during that movement.

@theswingman444 Level changes, transitions, athletic flow, Timing… not positions.. we’ve been looking at too many still images of positions.. the swing is one Flow..

@flowsdoc Wasn’t saying they needed to be in a static position and of course there’s no such thing as being perfect but figuring out the best positions to get in while moving will ultimately lead to more efficient and effective movement.
