@Critical_Scribe David wanted to give the fans Superman, Gunn insisted on giving us Superboy. Gunn's sensibilities would probably be more fitting for a Shazam Movie. At least then it'd make sense why the hero behaves like a kid in a man's body.

And this is why I don’t give Corenswet any grief about his performance. Man was doing his best with what he had.
Him and Cavill were stuck with directors that lacked the ability to nail down Superman beyond one or two aspects. For a character like that, you can’t be doing that.

In hindsight, should've just kept Snyder's thing going. Yeah it was niche and not for everyone, but at least there was a focused creative vision that stood in opposition to the norm, a nice alternative to the MCU. Given the way cape shit is heading, a smaller dedicated audience is better than aiming for everyone and falling flat on your face.
