My biggest beef with these tariffs is they don’t go far enough. Why not incentivize each town to build everything themselves? I want a car designed and built in Brooklyn. Why buy French wine when we could be cultivating vineyards in Prospect Park?

Today, we are announcing our new fund, @CendanaCapital 6. It was our fastest fundraise ever, and had interest well above our $400M hard cap. We added a handful of new institutional LPs–including for the first time, 2 public pension funds. We are particularly keen that a number of our LPs are mission driven–they are the financial engines for a number of world-class educational and not-for-profit organizations, and of course, public pension funds that provide the retirement benefits to their members. We are grateful for the trust and support of our LPs! Armed with the pattern recognition built over the past 15 years, and the willingness to be both creative and open to refining our approach, we are super excited about the opportunities over the next few years. Chaos is a ladder–for most people, chaos leads to confusion, inaction and ultimately failure. If we remain clear-eyed about our mission, execute accordingly and become true partners along the way to our LPs and to our GPs, we are confident that we can lead the way. After a 6 week review we are officially cancelling 83% of the programs at USAID. The 5200 contracts that are now cancelled spent tens of billions of dollars in ways that did not serve, (and in some cases even harmed), the core national interests of the United States. In consultation with Congress, we intend for the remaining 18% of programs we are keeping (approximately 1000) to now be administered more effectively under the State Department. Thank you to DOGE and our hardworking staff who worked very long hours to achieve this overdue and historic reform.

Sending a pass email in record time puts you in the top 1% of VCs. Bar is on the floor.

I got hired as a straight white man in CS straight out of college, during the layoffs. So did all of my straight white male friends, they all ended up at top tech companies. How? We went to Georgia Tech (not an ad) A public state school, but not any public state school. 80% of GT students graduate with internship or co-op experience. I personally graduated with research and 3 internships. There is an emphasis on building during the curriculum. There is a well developed startup accelerator on campus. GT has a great relationship with top tech companies, and non-tech in and outside of Atlanta. This means that by the time you graduate you have experience, skills, and a network. Companies are opting for GT grads over Ivy league students in a lot of cases, and GT is one of the top schools exporting to sillicon valley. Again, GT is PUBLIC, in state tuition is only $12k a year! They are required to have majority american students and even have a majority in-state students. Imagine if every school adopted this.

This is my annual plea to founders: take some time off this holiday season. Spend time with your family. Step away from your business. You’ll return more energized, creative, and ready to solve the tough problems needed for success.

@Hadley And also to help them avoid the cognitive bias of Founder’s Syndrome…owning a small piece of a huge pie is better than owning the majority of a small pie.

My job is to invest in and support pre-PMF founders, so my favorite meetings are the ones where the founders have just realized they’ve hit product-market fit. Such a special moment in the early trajectory of a company.

All else being equal, I’ll always bet on an entity led by a founder over a hired leader. Whether it’s a startup, VC fund, public company, or a gas station, when the leader sees the organization as their “baby,” the chances of success go up.

We pay too much attention to national politics—and I’ve been guilty of it this week Broadly speaking: you should care 10X more about your state politics, 100X more about local politics, and 1,000X more about your own life Your actions will result in so much more change that way
