The TVCA’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee has members sign a declaration of interests, as it should. Only the Independent Middlesbrough Councillor Dennis McCabe hasn’t signed his but it has still been signed off by Julie Gilhespie and the monitoring officer.

@109mph @canadiancarol1 Also if Middlesbrough council hadn't been run by a Conservative/Independent coalition from 2019-2023, with the previous independent mayor having something of a habit of some curious spending decisions.

In case you missed it - Middlesborough Council is about to file for bankruptcy - another LABOUR RUN COUNCIL. Who thinks this party is capable of running the UK?

Horizon itself when it was developed for the DWP - where it crashed and burned - was intended to stop a huge amount (£150m) of benefits fraud so the concept was baked in. independent.co.uk/news/business/…

@jprelph @utb_smith I wonder if there was a prior belief in great levels of criminality but that it was hard to prove. New system comes in. Bingo: the assumption is accepted as proved because there was never a challenge to the assumption. See also the modest levels of proven fraud versus the belief.
