@ghosttyped absolutely. Plus whoever’s making cocomelon has done a very good job figuring out how to get the child to keep looking, which (imo) is by guaranteeing a scene cut before anyone’s attention span runs out.

It’s less that screen time is bad imo and more that producing is good (even when on screen) and mindless consuming is bad (especially when on screen)

It’s so very confusing that most parents, and many early childhood researchers, use the phrase “screen time” to mean “watching videos.” Good creative tools really get thrown out when people demonize the “screen”

@Noahpinion I think he makes a compelling argument. Israel can make all the moral and strategic arguments it wants to justify the war but at the end of the day, it’s perfectly reasonable to argue back “killing 10s of thousands of people is worse. Figure out something else”

my rich friends in sf are currently designing babies from scratch, picking the sex via embryo selection, incredibly advanced screenings for genetic issues, & potentially even considering surrogates (wives a bit older). we are not far away from even eye color selection, etc—new world indeed.

To the younger adults on my TL, there's a few things about the shock and awe over the Cheney endorsement:
1. Dick Cheney is a staunch, die hard, tried and true republican. But his version of the party doesn't exist anymore. Him being anti-Trump is no surprise (bc Liz is and has been), but rejecting your party's candidate isn't the same as endorsing the other party's candidate.
