I am heartily sick of all the Starmer bashing going on. So easy to sneer from the sidelines. And the way Sir Keir carries on with dignity and integrity fulfilling his manifesto more quickly than any previous government is an example to us all.#TenYearKeir #StandWithStarmer

It’s 2035, and it’s just hit 35 degrees C - in March. The bees are confused, where are the flowers? Crops get ruined by a lack of water in the weeks that follow. But in the Daily Mail comments still say “ITS THE SUMMER, ENJOY IT”.

“Locker-room banter” is a pathetic excuse for blatant misogyny from a grown man. Reform could have called out the overt sexism and condemned it. Instead, they framed it as an “establishment hit job”. Tells you everything you need to know about them. 🦖
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

Update: A Reform UK spokesman says Kenyon's comments about women driving were "locker room banter made more than a decade ago" "We simply don't care about establishment hit jobs. We fully back Rob and are confident he will be an excellent MP for Makerfield"

“There’s no problem in Wales that Wales cannot solve.” Wales has the talent, resources and ambition to succeed. This new Plaid Cymru government has a plan to close the prosperity gap, strengthen connectivity and back Welsh businesses to grow.

Plaid’s problem is not that they don’t have the tools to do the job, it’s that the tools are being used for the wrong jobs.

@GhostOfTheLane1 @JacotheNorth I know right. Although I bet everyone was saying the same thing the last time it was the highest temp ever in May. I doubt it though, because they weren't being taxed through the fucking arse on some pretence of efficacious CO2 management

Don’t get the Andy Burnham thing. If he becomes PM I hope he succeeds. But why is he even being talked of as a Prime Minister? Just because he’s capped bus fares in Manchester and has a net approval rating of 4? It’s verging on fantasy politics without much foundation in reality.

@ZackPolanski Fucks sake Zack. Why don’t you go all the way and nationalise the farmers too, and the utility companies, and all the travel companies, whilst you’re at it, do the broadband and mobile phone companies too 👊🏼 #essentials

We need an end to tinkering around the edges. The public have had enough of this rip off. Andy Burnham must commit to taking water back into public ownership.
Cat Hobbs@CatHobbs

Andy Burnham says we could have a "localised public control option" for Thames Water What does that mean? Who is in charge? Where do the profits go? We need nothing less than permanent PUBLIC OWNERSHIP of Thames Water with households, workers and anti sewage groups on the board

Happy to help you out, Saqib. There was no payment, I got Gemma a couple of cans of Red Bull but that was it. I really enjoyed chatting to her about why school matters for all our children.

While teacher numbers drop, SEND families face uncertainty and Labour's new education plans are set to overwhelm classrooms, the Education Secretary has found time to film a video with Gemma Collins, at the taxpayers' expense. I've asked how much this frivolous video has cost 👇

🚨EXCL: Mark Drakeford, former Labour First Minister of Wales, calls on Keir Starmer to set a timetable to step down as Prime Minister and backs Andy Burnham In his first interview since Labour’s disastrous Welsh Parliament elections, he tells me: • The situation for the PM is “irrecoverable” • Suggests a contest could happen over the summer with a “new Prime Minister in place for September” • Supports Andy Burnham to become the next Labour leader and Prime Minister - and intends to campaign for him in Makerfield. • Believes “a strong majority of Welsh Labour members” will want to support Burnham • Says the level of hostility towards the Labour Party which he encountered in the Senedd election campaign was something he’d never experienced in over 50 years of campaigning • On Eluned Morgan, the former Labour First Minister, losing her seat: a “desperately sad moment” • Claims lack of further powers devolved to Wales by the Keir Starmer administration "cut the ground from under us” in Welsh Labour's Senedd campaign Part of our exchange here Full interview to follow in next post ⬇️🧵

I am proud and humbled to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Makerfield. These proud working-class communities represent the very best values of our country and they deserve so much better. It would be my honour to work for them every day, if elected as their MP, to achieve that. Many people here feel Westminster isn’t working for them and they are right. I am standing to change that and get the voice of these communities heard loud and clear. I am glad that this by-election has finally put the places that make up the Makerfield constituency into the national spotlight. They have been neglected by national politics for too long. It is a good thing that all political parties are now on the hook to tell the voters here what they are going to do for them. More than anything, people need life to be more affordable again. As Mayor, I have brought in changes which are helping, such as the £2 fare cap, free bus travel for our 16-18 year-olds and removing the 9.30am restriction from older and disabled people’s bus passes. But there is only so much I can do from Greater Manchester. If elected, I will have a relentless focus on reducing people’s everyday costs and bills and well as securing the investment these communities need. I have been an elected representative in Greater Manchester for 25 years. Throughout that time, I have fought for the people of the North West of England on so many fronts. I am now ready to bring the whole weight of that experience to fighting for the communities of the Makerfield constituency and would be privileged to be given that opportunity.
