Our bridge inspectors are on site examining the bridge. We anticipate sharing with the public how long Westbound I-90 will be closed, and our next steps, no later than Monday. If that changes, we will alert the public right away. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident. Our state will be pursuing the cost of repairs with the trucking company.

Earlier today, I announced the use of Strategic Reserve Funds to help Manzana move its entire apple processing operation from California to Sunnyside, Washington. This move will give local apple growers a stable and nearby buyer. We must support our growers and farmers.

Attorney General Bondi recently threatened to put me in jail. Now, the President has threatened to put the Illinois governor and Chicago mayor in jail. This is about as authoritarian as it gets.

I will share a more detailed response to AG Bondi on Tuesday. Washington state has no intention of changing our values in the face of threats from the Trump administration. The federal government’s relentless targeting of law-abiding immigrants is wrong. The Keep Washington Working Act is an important law that helps protect Washington families in the face of this assault. The Keep Washington Working Act requires our state and local law enforcement to focus on keeping Washingtonians safe, rather than allowing limited resources to be used for federal immigration enforcement. Protecting hardworking Washingtonians who are abiding by our state laws and keeping families together reflect our values as a state.

Many families are one large rent increase away from potentially finding themselves on the street. In one case in Walla Walla, rent in a manufactured home park was going to go up by 29%. Most Washingtonians can’t afford that. Grateful for Attorney General Nick Brown’s enforcement of the rent stabilization bill I signed earlier this year. It’s allowing Washingtonians to plan, budget, and stay in their homes.

Meanwhile, Ferguson's state is ranked #3 when it comes to largest homeless populations, right behind California and New York. The current plan is clearly not working.
