Today we honor those who gave their “last full measure of devotion” in defense of our nation. We remember their courage, sacrifice, and service, and we express gratitude for the liberties secured by those who never came home.

His name was Aiden Bevins. I've dreaded posting about this case. Another dead WA child. Aberdeen PD is still investigating. But the facts are similar to Oakley Carlson. We need to fix or repeal the WA Keeping Families Together Act. It's an abject failure. king5.com/article/news/l…

The police almost always know these frequent fliers by name, good thing big Mike Volz was there!
Dale Whitaker@dalewhitakerwa

Yesterday, while out putting up campaign signs with Spokane County Treasurer Mike Volz, a man rode by on his bike yelling obscenities. He then got off his bike, continued screaming at us, and head-butted me. Before that, he'd already assaulted Mike. Two strangers, working late, on their way to another job, stopped and stepped in to help before anyone was seriously hurt. Officers arrived and detained the suspect. When we were asked if we wanted to press charges, I replied that I want the guy to get help. Clearly he is not in a right state of mind, drunk and high. The Officer told us that pressing charges was the only realistic path toward any intervention for this individual, and that if we didn't press charges, "their hands were tied and the would just release him." We pressed charges. This kind of thing continues to happen to Spokane residents every single day. It didn't appear overnight. It's the result of years of policies that chose ideology over accountability, and families, volunteers, and small business owners are the ones absorbing the cost. We have to stop electing "leaders" who pass policies that perpetuate these types of behaviors. This is not compassion. It is cruelty. Spokane residents should not fear for their safety when going about their everyday lives or participating in their civic duty. Thank you to the two concerned citizens that stopped to help, and a special thank you to the @SpokaneSheriff for their diligent response and handling of the situation. The Officers responding conducted themselves professionally and treated everyone involved with the dignity and respect our community deserves.

Went to dinner with friends tonight and our restaurant had petitions to stop the income tax available. That was an easy 4 additional signatures over appetizers, and our sheet was nearly full. 😎 Don’t forget, if we don’t get rid of this income tax, you likely won’t be able to afford eating out in Washington once democrats lower the threshold for you to pay it. It’s already too expensive as it is. That’s even if the restaurant sticks around or if we aren’t hammered into absolute oblivion by the cost of living first.

They dressed it up with fancy language and a millionaire's label to hide the truth: it'll be a tax on everyone. A pig with lipstick is still a pig 💄🐷 Vote YES to stop the tax, order signature sheets today at letsgowa.com/request_sig_sh…, and let your friends know the dirty secret.

@thehoffather Hold up…why are we paying for criminals to get elective surgeries exactly? And why did this spending TRIPLE in a single year?? This is bonkers.

NEW: The WA Dept of Corrections has spent over $4.8 million on "gender affirming" care for convicted felons in prison since 2019, with costs accelerating sharply in recent years — including nearly $400,000 paid through Medicaid even after WA Democrats moved to cut Medicaid spending elsewhere. Records obtained also show approximately $527,900 spent on bottom surgeries, nearly $586,000 spent on top surgeries, and roughly $62,000 spent on laser hair removal services. This information comes as Democrats continue to claim that Washington has a budget crisis and needs more "revenue," like the recently passed income tax.

Wouldn’t that math also point out you could’ve taken a shred of the billions of dollars spent on homelessness and just hand every homeless person a rent check for much cheaper? Money is a factor, but so are many other things. If you’re high on fentanyl or struggling with mental illness (or both), it’s not just a matter of “you fell $100 short of housing this month”. Give ~30,000 homeless people in WA $2,500 each month that’s $900m per year. Thats a touch less than WAs 25-27 budget alone spent on homelessness. So, in essence, what I’m hearing is we could’ve just fished that cash out to every homeless person for rent and problem solved? It’s much more complex than that. You have individuals who are homeless for vastly different reasons, and money isn’t going to solve it for all of them. I wouldn’t call it a character flaw either. Some fell on hard times, some have severe issues, and some have made this their chosen lifestyle. Can’t toss all of them into the same bucket. Probably won’t agree on this, but I think you identify and triage each individual to assess how we get them whole. For some that might mean a little assistance, but we have to stop enabling it. That means stop putting up with it, enforce the law, stop giving out useless or harmful things that perpetuate it, and give them concrete choices that lead to personal victory. What we can’t continue is unchecked open air drug use, constant overdoses, filthy streets and parks, the rampant crime that accompanies it, and untreated mental illness… all the while handing them the paraphernalia of their own demise, offering free housing with no rules that become death dungeons and flip houses, and giving them all sorts of taxpayer money and resources without asking literally anything in return. We need to take the keys away from the chronically homeless and put their lives back together, or better yet save their lives.

Homelessness isn't a character flaw, it's a math problem. When rent is $2,500 and a job pays $2,400, the streets fill up. You don't have to be gifted with math to understand. Fix the math, decrease homelessness.

President Trump put out the call to rig the system in order to maintain the Republican majority in Congress, and red states are answering. I support efforts to level the playing field. In Washington state, we would need a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate to change our redistricting process. If we get that supermajority, I would not only support a redistricting effort — I would lead it. seattletimes.com/seattle-news/p…

This is beyond the pale. Calling something “rigging the system” while openly threatening to rig Washington’s system for partisan advantage is an incredible statement from a sitting governor. Washingtonians expect fair districts, not politicians choosing their voters. He works for the party, not the people. Every citizen of Washington should be deeply disturbed by this statement.

You could almost overlay her remarks with many of my own on budget and taxes in the last two years, and you couldn’t tell the difference. It’s gotta say something where you have a former Democrat Governor who is solidly liberal, and conservative Republicans, saying the same common sense things. That’s because the fiscal and tax policies we face today are so horrendous, that it’s less about left vs right and more about crazy vs sane.
Brandi Kruse@BrandiKruse

DAMN. Former Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire, a Democrat, goes scorched earth on the current Democrats leading the state. Says they have no clue how bad their policies are for the economy.

That’s one way to solve the housing crisis… just chase everyone out of state.
WA House Republicans@WaHouseGOP

.@SeattleRedMedia: "Seattle is drowning in homes that nobody is buying. And that, according to one real estate analyst tracking the data closely, finally puts buyers in the driver’s seat. "Nick Gerli, CEO of the Reventure App, posted on X Sunday that the Seattle metro is experiencing what he called a 'historic inventory shock,' with active listings now running at nearly double their normal level for this time of year … "Gerli attributed the surge to forces the region has been dealing with for years. 'This is happening due to layoffs, a historic lack of affordability, and increased outbound migration,' he wrote."
