@KeithMillsD7 There is no evidence of it leading to lower productivity. I would seriously question how productive they expect people to be after a 3 hour drive.
English

@liam7988 Why should they do this if it leads to lower productivity?

All this will do is force more traffic onto other perifoveal suburban roads. People don't use the M50 for the fun of it.
NewstalkFM@NewstalkFM
More tolling on the crowded M50 would be unpopular but likely lead to reduced congestion, a professor in transport has argued. newstalk.com/news/tolling-2…

The difference between @roisinmurphy and other supposedly outspoken Irish singers is that Roisin speaks on issues with risk attached.
The likes of Moore and May simply spout safe, nodding-dog platitudes they know everyone will agree with.
Conformity masquerading as conscience.
Mandy Gall@TheMandyGall
Where's Imelda Maye, Christy Moore and the rest to come to defend a fellow artist...oh yeah they're too busy calling the Irish 'racist'

@givern_robert @BelTel @SuzyJourno Tom Barry refused to support the hunger strikers in Portlaoise. Was he a West Brit wanker?

SDLP didn’t just get Bobby Sands statue vote wrong — it reminded people why it has been losing ground for years

@ashstronge Because the Nationalist party that bombed the shit out of the place is really going to bring people with them
English

You only have to look at the accounts that are jumping in to defend SDLP on this tweet to see exactly why this decision was so poor.
Being the unionists favourite nationalist party offers zero rewards

@theorangecrunch @Independent_ie Abolishing USC obviously wasn't popular or FG would have done a lot better.
English

@liam7988 @Independent_ie But it became a feature of their dwindling campaign which they did not honour. This, Varadka's statement and handling of the peaceful protest will come back to haunt them come the next election.

Sinn Féin's engagement with Arab Barghouti reflects their long-standing ideological alignment. Barghouti’s father, Marwan Barghouti, is serving multiple life sentences for his role in the murderous attacks of civilians and membership in a terrorist organisation.
This raises questions about what priorities might shape a united Ireland under Sinn Féin’s influence. For those who reject comparisons between the Palestinian conflict and the Irish Troubles, such associations are particularly contentious.
Framing violence as “resistance,” rather than emphasising negotiation and political compromise, challenges claims of inclusivity and will most certainly risk deepening divisions rather than resolving them.

🏴 52% would say YES to Scottish independence, according to the latest poll by @diffleypartners.
Independence support by age:
16 - 24: 77%
25 - 34: 75%
35 - 44: 66%
45 - 54: 62%
55 - 64: 43%
65+: 28%
It’s comin yet for a’ that.
English

@theorangecrunch @Independent_ie It was a new policy from October 2015 - Election was February 2016 and FG were polling well in 2015. So it wasn't last minute.
English

@liam7988 @Independent_ie Yes they were struggling with getting votes and came out with this last minute promise. When they scrapped in with an amalgamation of other similar political parties they renegade on their promise.
English

@theorangecrunch @Independent_ie FG's support went down in 2016 which is when the abolish the USC promise was made. Dropped from 69 seats back to 50 seats in that election.
English

@Independent_ie FG got into the Dail promising everyone they would abolish USC. But like everything they failed to deliver.

@ben1981c @mark_robinson_ @Blakey_78UTD The small clubs don't want replays. They do when its a Premier League opponent but not if its a League 1 team
English

@mark_robinson_ @Blakey_78UTD You missed getting rid of replays because 4 or 5 teams out of the entire FA happen to be successful and play in Europe too.
English

The real reasons the FA Cup has been devalued:
- Clubs playing weakened teams
- Rounds being spread over days, sometimes as many as five
- Being on pay TV (i.e. not BBC or ITV)
- Semi finals being played at Wembley
- The final not being the last game of the season with a 3pm kick off
Yet some people still blame it on United for not playing in it in 2000, even though they wanted to but weren’t allowed to.
#MUFC #ManUtd #FACup

English

@darin_burrows @mark_robinson_ I think the start of it was the expansion of the Champions League which already had 3 English teams when United withdrew.
English

@mark_robinson_ Nope, don't blame them; as you rightly point out, they wanted to. All your other points are also correct; however, being pulled was the start of it. Plus, the boredom of pretty much the same clubs in the final, most of the time.
English

@mark_robinson_ Agree with your points but also there being 3, then 4 and now 5 Champions League places in the Premier League. Winning the FA Cup is now same value as finishing 6th in terms of the European place on offer.
English

@Niall_Boylan @independent_ire My impression of Independent Ireland is that they're not a cohesive party - even the name is a problem. Do they want to be independents or a party?
English

The Journal claims “Support steady for Fianna Fáil” at a time when the government parties between them have lost 10% support in just two years.
@independent_ire are gaining support and if it’s clear their is change. If the media give fair airtime to @independent_ire they will take a lot more seats next time round.

English

@EscociaLibre Scottish Nationalism is fucked if they think Sinn Fein can help their cause
