Hot take: The most valuable dev in 5 years won’t be the best coder… it’ll be the one who understands systems + users. Agree or disagree?

@Szut @thekitze Yea, you get a good codebase with working or almost working. It actually allows you time to think of additional stuff.

@CtrlAltDwayne @thekitze You can just use plan mode and discuss ways to make the code DRY and more coherent. It will advise you with various things and you can choose some. Build - refine - rebuild - finish

@thekitze For my personal projects I've learned to embrace the questionable decisions Codex makes. I measure the quality by the outcome. If it works and isn't full of security holes or perf issues, I embrace the defensive code and other things I wouldn't do if I wrote the code.

@nathan_covey What's your workflow? What are you working with? AI doesn't have discretion or judgement even though it makes it sound like it has.

I've never had an AI support agent ever actually solve my problem. I have to escalate to a human every time.

@Robert_Watkin_ @levelsio I get it. I built a "no framework" boilerplate but realised that I ended up using long running libraries anyway because it is a task to maintain every aspect yourself for years. Frameworks are just easier for you and AI. You can choose to get a light one though.

I'm starting a new project! 🥳 But for the first time in a long time... I will be using NO FRAMEWORK! I have had the felt for a while that the benefits of a framework have been eroded away by AI I know people like @levelsio have done this for a long time already ... but I still felt that frameworks had their place for speed/convenience AI now closes the gap as it can make a lot of boilerplate features in a matter of minutes without all of the bloat that you will likely never use Now is the time to bring back efficiency and reject bloat! Extrapolate into the future and I can see a scenario where we don't even need high level languages e.g. direct English -> Machine Code Would love to hear what others think? are you thinking of doing this? is there any reason why frameworks may still have relevancy? 🤔

@blckgenesiz @opencode It's damn amazing in coding tasks. Can't fathom my head around it's context windows and output lengths. In web chat, most models are conservative in output lengths. Qwen is very liberal. Another free model I like is GLM5. But I think Qwen is a bit better.

MiMo-V2-Pro and MiMo-V2-Omni are now free in OpenCode many of you have tried them in stealth - Hunter Alpha and Healer Alpha. Mystery solved worth mentioning - MiMo-V2-Pro: - ~1T params - 1M context - optimized for coding

@sickdotdev That's fair. I learnt coding on my own. Left coding work years ago scared/hopeful of AI. Now that good free and cheap AI tools exist, I feel like I use them to throw away the mundane and build things I am passionate about.

@blckgenesiz @opencode Golden advice: Use chat.qwen.ai to discuss and finalize things. Then ask it to give you a md file for prompting. Coly the message, save it in a .md file. Ask your agent in opencode to read the md and execute. Most good free models will give you good stuff.

@blckgenesiz @opencode OpenRouter has many heavy weights available for free. They won't be as good as Claude or ChatGPT, not even the open source GLM5 or Kimi K2.5, but they will do stuff.
