Trump should propose a financial transaction tax that’s too small to matter for most things but will squash the HFT industry. Talent suck of some of our highest IQ folks, they should be training transformers not optimizing bids for 1 share of Microsoft

@ByrneHobart I haven’t read that, do you think I should? I broadly agree that it’s valuable and not negative sum BUT that there’s a market failure in allocating our smartest engineers and quants to more valuable but harder/longer to quantify problems

question for ML people: In his ESL review, Max Dama said that Random Forest is not rly used in practice - ppl use XGB/LGBM. why is that the case? OTOH De Prado said that bagging addresses overfitting, boosting addresses underfitting, & in finance overfitting is a bigger issue
