@midrangehoops I was thinking the same. Whoever controls the pace will win. This kid Philon has been quarterbacking an uptempo NBA style offense under Nate Oats. He's got good size, speed, can shoot it, and is an improved playmaker.

There are so many good PGs in this draft class that I feel like Alabama's Labaron Philon is being slept on. @midrangehoops I know you follow Hofstra. Are they a good matchup for Philon?

@NetsDaily Correct. In 2025, a 39-win play-in team wins the lottery ("They were lucky!"), Utah had the worst record overall and picks 5th ("They were unlucky!"), the Nets finished with the 6th-worst record and picked 8th ("They were stupid!"). It's a lottery.

It’s hard to say this after a game like last night but there’s NO guarantees in Draft Lottery. Even if Nets finish with worst record - certainly possible - they could wind at #5. Detroit did 3 times. Third worst, you could wind at #7. It appears to be dropoff after #8, but still.

@theblockspot It's not good, also happens every year. The playoff teams are set, the tanking teams are set. The only real "races" are to increase lottery odds and maybe to avoid the play-in. Teams are working with the system that's in place. The fans always lose after the ASG until playoffs.

@EvanRobertsWFAN Point taken but last year they were accused of not tanking hard enough (Schroeder, Cam J, DFS). This year with 5 rookies and no stars, still not enough tanking. Plus they must lose by >10 ("They scaring me...fire the FO!") or <20 ("Poverty! Fire the FO!"). Not built for a tank.

@HoopsWeiss St. John's got hurt by a weak conference. UConn beat a bunch of ranked teams pre-conference, St. John's couldn't catch them overall even though they beat UConn twice and won the BE tourney. No other quality wins to be had in the Big East this season.

UConn (2) and St. John's (5) both in the East Region. thought Storm deserved better but I'm of the belief committee does bulk of its work before conference finals.
