Even if only motivated by economic reasons, governments should fund clean air in all schools. The way this works where I live is that schools and daycares in affluent areas get air cleaners (usually donated by wealthy parents), while those in poorer areas do not.
The Corsi-Rosenthal Foundation UK@CRFoundationUK

Hot off the press - A study in Finland found air cleaners reduced illness in kindergarten children by around 30% In line with Class-ACT reduction of >20% #CleanTheAirWeShare @NEU_SAFETY @Rachel_deSouza @GillianKeegan @lisanandy @JimBethell @chrischirp yle.fi/a/74-20052273

Please join me in thanking @DrAmirKhanGP for using his platform to raising awareness that Covid is airborne and that ventilation is of utmost importance to reduce the spread. We need a LOT more of this though as Public Health has failed miserably in this regard…

It’s really really bad when infectious disease paediatricians spread misinformation. It’s particularly harmful because it’s travelling on an “a priori trust” adjuvant. People trust MDs, so MDs’-spread misinfo is more efficient than trolls’ one Misinfo dissected & fact checked 👇
Stan - Covid is Airborne@getacluekid

A recent article by McMaster Children’s Hospital titled “What illnesses are impacting kids this viral season” by Dr Jeffrey Pernica, Infectious Disease Paediatrician, provides dangerous misinformation that contradicts the data provided by @PublicHealthON & scientific knowledge 1/

@NinjaBex @jennyeverest1 @erbrooker How so? It matches perfectly preomicron with the proportion who developed antibodies (indicating exposure was inevitable). It is foolish to rely on PCR testing results when testing was set up such that a single aerosol could contaminate a sample and result in a positive.

Why did we never worry about the air in children's classrooms before? Because they have amazing immune systems. If your child is susceptible to a particular variant, they are going to end up being exposed at some point during the wave.
Ruth Brooker@erbrooker

I'd been wanting to do this for ages but had to wait for a window of dry weather... Finally, at the end of the winter term, I stood outside my primary school at pick-up time. I had two DIY air filters behind me, some information on a flyer and a determination to chat. 🧵

@ClareCraigPath @PeteUK7 @jennyeverest1 @erbrooker Because te become infected, you need a minimum dose. That dose can vary from individual to individual, but finally it is dose dependent. Also once infected, the course and outcome of the disease are dose dependent. Ventilating, air cleaning, facemasks are lowering the dose.

@PeteUK7 @jennyeverest1 @erbrooker Why do you think it would prevent disease? I don't think it would on the basis of all that I do know: ~10% were susceptible to each variant based on secondary attack rates. ~10% acquired antibodies in each wave despite every intervention. Ergo exposure was inevitable.

If you're encountering a covid variant that will evade your immunity, the basic equation is this: The more covid-infected-air that you inhale, the harder your body will have to work to defeat it. So do everything you can to reduce the length of time you're inhaling that infected air for, and reduce the quantity of infected air. Use: Quality masks Short meetings and smaller groups Ventilation HEPA filters Isolation Testing Meet outdoors Seriously, do everything you reasonably can to avoid catching it, and do everything you can to avoid giving it to anyone you love. #CovidIsntOver
