Today we’re introducing Cheats in @Spielwerkapp Prompting has failed us. Most people don’t know what to type. AI unlocked a ton of skills for experts, but the rest of us kinda need a… cheat. Sound on!

Streamers, it's time to make the switch. Check out our friends @official_throne, a privacy-first wishlist platform whose top priority is to keep your address private built with creators in mind!
Zach Bussey 🇨🇦@zachbussey

Amazon is making a change to Wishlists that may make your address visible to gift buyers, starting on March 25, 2026. They recommend you get a PO Box to protect yourself from accidentally being doxxed.

@samuelstros Sadly not ideal for more complex relational datasets & if you want to give users easy ways to suggest edits, have a version history of individual rows etc.

Is there an equivalent of GitHub for open-source databases / crowd-sourced data that lets users suggest edits, version history etc? Couldn't find anything established

Kids in Creators in Students in Engineers in Designers in California is worth fighting for. Don’t let the tax bills of a few post-economic ballers change your plans. Balaji happily extracted what he needed from California and then scurried away like the rest of his ilk.
Balaji@balajis

Zuck out Page out Brin out Thiel out Elon out The most successful tech founders of all time have now exited the failed state of California. You shouldn’t move there for tech. And if you are there, you should leave. The future is the decentralized Internet.

@phara4assembly The marginal tax rate for $2M+/yr income in NY is: 9.65% state + 3.88% city, total: 13.53%. Already the highest (by far) in the US. The proposal increases it by 2%. The marginal rate in Massachusetts for $2M+/yr is 5% (state) + 4% (millionaire tax), total: 9%.

4 years ago, Massachusetts passed a millionaire's tax. Not only did millionaires not leave the state, there are now MORE of them and the tax is generating billions in revenue for critical public services. Let's make sure New York's millionaires pay their fair share.
Josie Stratman@JosieStratman

Mayor Mamdani pitching his plan to raises taxes on $$$ NYers on the biz-minded CNBC. He says there’s a lot of “fear mongering” ab it. “For all of the talk about capital flight… we lose sight of the fact that there is an exodus of people from the city. It's working people”

Unpopular opinion: Germany is coasting on a reputation it stopped deserving a long time ago. Ran a business there for a year. Accountant sat on paperwork for months, fired me for following up. Embassy invented visa rules. Tax office couldn’t find my own file. Germans defend this. “It filters out unmotivated people.” Almost every immigrant I met wants to leave. Some stay only because exit tax traps them or because they are waiting for a passport. For all the jokes about Mediterranean inefficiency, I’ve found the opposite. Cyprus has more delivery options, longer hours, and people who shrug and find workarounds instead of lecturing you about process. Germans want to be right. Cypriots want to help. Southern and eastern Europe are rising while Germany argues about fax machines. The tide is turning. Germans who can’t see it will learn the hard way.

Collected as many infamous Hacker News launch comments of companies that went on to be huge (Airbnb, Stripe, Cursor & others) ⬇️
John Horton@johnjhorton

@tanayj It would be interesting to collect the earliest mentions of every big tech company of last 20 years on HN & do a mega thread e.g., here's Uber (then UberCab):

@MaxTagher I checked your original launch post (great product btw, we’re using Mercury too!) but comments were generally very positive - same for a handful of other launches. Main point of collecting the screenshots is showing that a badly received HN launch doesn’t predict failure

@pbecker I checked the comments for Mercury and they were really quite positive news.ycombinator.com/item?id=196940… I think it’s valuable to collect the infamous comments but also some of the reputation of HN being so cynical can be overblown

The Cursor launch post on Hacker News only had 14 votes and "I still can't figure out if this is just some sarcastic joke software" as the top comment. Incredible
