@reenwilson @KatrinaVelle It can be traumatic for a patient seeing how amoeba behave, but these experiments help us researchers understand these organisms better. e.g. by using microscopy, I believe I know why we see more relapsing cases when AK patients are treated with azoles, it causes encystation.

For night 21 of #31nightsofhalloween #microscreepy here are some amoebae that are minding their own business until a drug is added (color change) and they attack each other! Okay, okay, they’re not really attacking, but they do tend to clump and crawl around each other!

@alisonleary1 Yep, this shouldn’t be the only bit of public engagement, there is a role for deliberation around evidence. But the responses with the most reactions so far are quite different from the ones that sneery journalists have picked out and are using to rubbish the whole thing.

It's one thing to 'hear from everyone'. Then what? How (apart from AI) to process tens of thousands of suggestions? A coherent, considered result will take deliberation about cost/benefit, rival priorities, etc. Perhaps a #CitizensAssembly? @Georgia_Gould @annalouisedixon
