@BillAckman You “found yourself on a tennis court” at an ATP tournament is the biggest canard. Maybe one day you’ll actually be honest about how you got Jack Sock to use his wildcard on you.

I can speak in front of an audience of a thousand people or in a TV studio on a broad range of topics without any preparation and without a twinge of fear, but yesterday I had my first real experience with stage fright. I found myself on a tennis court in a live streamed professional tournament with a few hundred in the crowd. Throughout the match, my wrist, arm and body literally froze with the expected negative outcomes. I had difficulty breathing, and it was not a fitness issue. It got a bit better as the match progressed, but I was not able to overcome it. I regularly play with mid-20-year-old D1 college players and recently retired pros on a familiar court with no audience with none of the same symptoms. It was a very humbling experience that gives one even more respect for the pros who play for a living in front of the cameras and the crowds. We forget that they also need to manage the challenges of their carefully examined personal lives, their break ups, their emotions, financial stresses, and their mental health, family, and other challenges. Tennis is one of the few sports where the athlete is out there alone in front of the klieg lights for hours operating with incredible intensity with barely a bathroom break. And they might have been awakened in the middle of the previous night for a drug test while staying far from home. For all but the top players, they also struggle financially as they manage their small businesses working to recruit and retain talent, manage expenses, balance their budgets, and pay their taxes on time. Whatever respect we already have for these incredible athletes, it is not enough. They deserve more of our applause and appreciation.

They did everything they could to create a panic. They predicted a Black Monday that never came. They became jubilant over an intraday correction on Tuesday. They were rooting for Trump to fail even if it meant the market and economy crashed. Fortunately their hopes have been dashed. Trump has been vindicated. China is isolated, and the rest of the world is lining up to negotiate new trade deals. Do you think this would have happened if Trump had asked nicely? Maybe if he had said pretty please? Never. This was the only way to rewrite the rules of global trade. Once again, Trump was right about everything!

Chamath isn’t the only VC who switched from D to R, at least in part, because they couldn’t get much access to Biden WH. But most of them don’t say that out loud.

.@chamath: “I was a megadonor to the Democrats … I couldn't get a phone call returned from the White House to save my life … The Trump administration is totally different. There's not a single person there you can't get on the phone and talk to.”

I do think DOGE is going to be able to actually balance the budget. People used to say, "You can't, because look at these sacred categories: There's x in entitlements, y in healthcare, you can't change those." But how much in those sacred categories is fraud/waste/abuse?

Paying taxes hits different when you see just how many places it gets blown for nothing. $100 million here, $500 million there, $5 billion over there, $300 million there. People work their entire lives to pay $500k in taxes, and it’s a rounding error on one wasteful program.

@SoundTransit horrible communication about the 1 Line service disruption at Columbia city and stations south. No platform announcements about trains changing direction at Columbia city. You can do so much better

Biden's executive order paused the approval of new permits for LNG projects until DOE completed an environmental and economic review of the LNG business. It did not pause ongoing LNG exports to Europe, which is what Johnson claims it did.

The remarkable thing about this story is that Biden was correct, and Mike Johnson was wrong: he did not sign an executive order pausing LNG exports to Europe, as Johnson claims. The US had $43 billion in LNG exports to Europe last year.
Bonchie@bonchieredstate

In which Mike Johnson recounts how Joe Biden had no idea he had “signed” an executive order dealing with LNG exports. This is crazy. We haven’t had a president the last four years. Just a shadowy cabal of handlers.

It still blows my mind that a sitting partner at a storied venture firm can just be openly sexist and racist on this app with zero career implications

@RaviMikkelsen But we don’t know that someone intentionally lit that fire. Right? We are speculating? Based on an ex post incomplete video? But by implying they might have, and then putting it out on this network, then letting the bots fan it out, well that seems irresponsible.

@RaviMikkelsen @shaunmmaguire Finally (and I’ll stop because I’ve limited my time on this site) I’m no FBI profiler, but arsonists are 1) rare, 2) have a desire to have their work “seen” and in a mass fire like this they would get none of that satisfaction

@RaviMikkelsen @shaunmmaguire That instinct to assume the worst in people is so prevalent here and in situations like this are just amplified and do no one any good. To be specific, in Huberman’s video, he say “now the palms are on fire” but they weren’t. Notice his camera never goes there
