Anyone have any experience with screen recording tools like @ScreenCharm @screenstudio or @TellaHQ ? Do they allow you to record videos once and then render them horizontal/vertical as you want?

More work with the new layout system. Vertical videos will finally always (hopefully) look good at screen.studio. Also, "Reel mode" makes it much easier to preview how it will look on social media.

I remember a thread about screen recording between @Rasmic and @robinebers - but can't seem to locate it anymore! What were the two apps that were being discussed?

@robinebers @chongdashu @Rasmic Hey @robinebers! I know that it might look like we are slow in development, but it was caused by our preparation to release a bigger update packed with new features. You might want to stay tuned.

1. @screenstudio best overall but retarded slow dev cycles. they haven't shipped anything groundbreaking in literally the last year. expensive for what it is, too. 2. OBS Complicated to set up, but powerful when done right. I use it for YouTube, but it breaks sometimes lol 3. @Cap - open source pretty good, much faster dev cycles, but still lacking a ton of features 4. @boomvideoapp also pretty good, but also lacks a ton of features still. they seem to focus more on screaming than recording. not there yet, but one to watch. 5. @BorumiHQ the most promising in my book. also not ultra fast dev cycle, but support was very helpful and responsive. has the most youtube-friendly features in my book and already got a lot of the screen studio features, and then some.

I think @screenstudio is by far one of the best app purchases I made, the UI and UX are top notch and beginner friendly and it allows me to lots of nice videos without knowing anything about professional editing. Excellent product would recommend 10/10👍

Happy to share that code reviews are coming to @linear, available in private beta on every plan. Modern code reviews with structural diffing that vastly reduce the number of changed lines in many cases. Review, comment, check previews, get notifications on failed CI check. And finally merge the PR, all from within Linear. Comments are synced two-ways with Github.

Hey @screenstudio I bought a lifetime access a year ago and it auto updated to latest. Now it says it "failed to downgrade".. Is there a way to extend the lifetime license to another year? This is a really poor way of treating your lifetime customers

There are really not that many products that offer true lifetime updates (and we also didn't state that) because it's almost not possible to deliver. For many software products that you buy, there is either some period of updates or the practice that you buy this version of the product, like version X, and you don't have access to higher versions, etc. The paradox here is that I believe it was a much better deal than the current subscription model, but still, the subscription is much easier to communicate. Because of discussions like this, we wanted to discontinue this plan. In my eyes, people who purchased this plan when it was available secured a really great deal.

What a mouthful. "Purchase lifetime, buy a renewal". So not lifetime then.

I proved to you that this information was not hidden at all in a different thread on X, showing you pictures of our pricing page back then. This information was clearly visible in the place where you click to purchase.

@elithecho I'll submit a form to see what the @FCC will say. I bought lifetime and got one year of updates too. Let's see what other customers think.

Hey! If you felt that way during the purchase, then we clearly failed to communicate this clearly. We have always stated this on our pricing page, and I it was always visible when you made your purchase (see the photo). There was no other way to purchase it than from this place, so it wasn't hidden. I can agree that communication might be better, but my main concern in that thread is different. Some people are publicly accusing us of things that are clearly untrue.

it’s a problem with how you word it. when i purchased it i thought i was set for life, then when i tried to update it said i have to buy another year of updates i don’t really care cause the latest update is enough for what i need… i don’t need to pay for updates that shows snow flakes on xmas

@ekimnazimkaya @o_kwasniewski And for people who purchased this product in the past, the OPTIONAL renewal is still available and was never removed. They can decide either if they want to use Screen Studio at the version they purchased or to get access to the newest update.

Hi Ekim! When the user purchased the license back then, he saw exactly this product description before purchase. It stated clearly 1 year of updates. The renewal wasn't even mentioned back then, but we decided to offer an OPTIONAL renewal for a reduced price (in this case $49). How did it work? You can use Screen Studio forever, at the version you purchased (actually even newer because this was extended at the moment of the update period). What do you think is misleading here?

Indeed, we are not selling a lifetime license. Because of sentiments like this, we made the same move as gittower, and for new users, we offer only subscriptions. Also, the wording "lifetime" that I used in the discussion has not been used for a long time because we didn't like it either. I kept using it because I was referring to the user message and didn't want to cause confusion here. TL;DR It's important to know the original context of this whole conversation and citation.
