Glad to hear Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright say he's concerned about shifting produced water disposal to shallow aquifers in response to seismicity. Shallow disposal of untreated produced water is not the answer. @texaswatertrade @PW_Society

@ATCEMS @AustinFireInfo I was a witness to this crash. It was a scooter not a motorcycle. Can you please provide an update on whether or not the person injured has been reported as a fatality?

Vehicle Rescue at S Congress Ave / Crockett St (11:10). #ATCEMS & @AustinFireInfo are on scene of a reported motorcycle vs vehicle collision, with the motorcyclist pinned underneath the vehicle. Expect #ATXTraffic delays in the area & avoid if possible. More info to follow.

This is a triop — a small, three-eyed crustacean. Following a torrential summer downpour in northern Arizona in October 2021, hundreds of bizarre, prehistoric-looking critters emerged from tiny eggs, that can stay dormant for decades, waiting for water: buff.ly/3lbDzso

Austin-area reservoir levels compared to a long-term average, the previous two years, and 2011. Cool that the cool kids @twdb added 2011 to their Water Data for Texas webtool: waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/sta… #txwater

I've been surprised how the wider world sees water shortage as the primary risk to oilfield sustainability in Texas. Water disposal is a far greater challenge - and the solution, a potential boon for water supplies. currentargus.com/story/news/202…

@OgallalaLife All of the above, and remarkable how strenuously we continue to resist the wisdom of natural hydrology to protect and sustain us.

Historic base-flows were sustained by groundwater, and wetlands functioned to regulate flow and recharge.
depleted, desertified degraded headwaters = diminished flow and other problems downstream
sorry we don't like it either!

Hi, why aren't we talking about this? We are in a severe drought and I still see Austinites watering their lawns at noon. Graph courtesy @AustinWater
