Given that the product was so ill-conceived and ended up being worse than anyone could have imagined - with shotgun starts, initially 54 holes, a team concept that was nothing but laughable and tournaments that meant and continue to mean nothing, and such a paltry number of viewers, losing billions along the way - would it surprise anyone if the Saudis came to their corrupted senses and finally euthanized the whole lame-brained tour.

Thanks for the response. The issue is obviously familiarity with the course that other players didn’t have. He clearly had a significant leg up on the field. Rory has plenty of money too, so I don’t find it to be some sort of humble sacrifice skipping those tournaments. Would love an answer to my original question about capping pre-tournament practice rounds, which helps create more of a level playing field….

If he had played in 2 of the 3 Tour events during that time and played well, he probably would have earned $1 million-plus in prize money. (And a lot more if he won one of them). He gave up that money to do extra prep in Augusta. I don’t see an issue with that.

Ron, do you believe there should be a cap on how many times golfers that qualify for The Masters are able to play the course the month prior? Again, Rory did not break any rules. I’ve never said he’s broken any rules. What he did was smart and legal, but I believe gave him an unfair advantage, which calls for reform. My argument is that there’s clearly a competitive disparity, especially in this year’s tournament with the amount of times that Rory was able to play the course.

I still give the legacy edge to Scottie Scheffler over Rory McIlroy going forward. Both are in a race to have the most complete golf resume of all time. Scottie needs a U.S. Open, Rory needs an Olympic Gold Medal. Huge advantage to Scheffler with the U.S. Open being an annual event and Scottie being seven years younger. Rory probably has two more realistic chances at the gold. 2028 in LA and 2032. No golfer currently has a: Masters U.S. Open Open Championship PGA Chanpionship PLAYERS FedEX Cub Title PGA Tour Player of the Year Ryder Cup Olympic Golf Medal Not Jack. Not Tiger. Nobody
