When railway officials refused to correct the mistake, he decided to take legal action instead of ignoring it, turning a minor issue into a long legal battle. The case went on for 22 years with more than 100 court hearings before a consumer court finally ruled in his favor in 2022. He was awarded a refund with interest and additional compensation, but he made it clear the case was never about the money. The fact that the case dragged on for 22 years says a lot about India’s judicial system.

State Bank of Pakistan has received funds of US$ 1 billion from Ministry of Finance, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the value date of 20April2026. This is the second tranche of the $3 billion deposit recently agreed by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. First tranche of $2 billion has already been received in the value date of 15April2026.

All units of the refinery are structurally safe. Due to an unfortunate fire incident today in the vicinity of the Crude Distillation Unit at the HRRL refinery, the scheduled dedication of the refinery by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 21.04.2026 has been postponed. The fire has been brought under control. There are no reports of any casualties. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause(s) of the incident and to undertake necessary remedial measures. @javedhassan Messy democracy is 1000 times better than any military dictatorship, wether it has any technocratic clarity. Pakistan is the best example for that. The military leaders have looted the country and made a huge wealth in Dubai or swiss bank.

Not only is Pakistan likely to see lower growth than almost all its democratic neighbours in the coming years, but it starts from a distinctly lower per capita base. Its GDP per capita remains roughly half that of India or Bangladesh. According to the latest UNDP Human Development Report, India and Bangladesh sit in the “medium human development” category (both ranked around 130th), while Pakistan languishes in the “low” category at 168th, with an HDI value of just 0.544. This is not merely a matter of income; it reflects deeper shortfalls in health, education, and overall human capacity. For much of its history, Pakistan has enjoyed the supposed advantage of technocratic clarity and unity of command: long periods expert-led governance unburdened by the messy compromises of democracy. Yet it continues to fall behind not only in headline GDP figures but in the underlying foundations of long-term prosperity: institutions, human capital, and productive capacity. The recurring pattern raises an uncomfortable question: why has this top down clarity so often failed to translate into sustained convergence with its democratic neighbours?
