It’s not the main grab to me of OP, its a well executed fix over a power level problem that does reinforce the themes

@theedandy @bibiiking11 Haki is the main power system of one piece. It’s literally built on willpower/ inherited wills which is the central theme of one piece. 😭 Regardless they work in tandem and they don’t work well. People are always confused as to how they conflict and etc. Like ACOC

@SudlaSteel @bibiiking11 Nah nen was planned as the system by then sorry, I was just pointing out it was sort of clunkily dropped into the world without worrying about wider implications. Cuz wider worldbuilding isn’t the point for togashi and that’s fine. that doesn’t have to be the point

@200Flashy @bibiiking11 OP is abt fighting systems-oppressive governments/monarchies/slave trades. Obviously there are villains within the systems, but the crew fights for ideals. HxH is about conflicting character motivations not fighting systems (sans election arc)

@200Flashy @bibiiking11 Yeah OP is also “make up as go along” to some extent, with Haki being the biggest example. It’s just also not the main power system (devil fruits) at the center. My point is HxH worldbuilding is a (well executed) afterthought. OP’s world systems are the main conflict

The magic is also super top secret? Hxh worldbuilding is a turn-your-brain off & have fun world at the beginning, up to nen intro

@SudlaSteel @bibiiking11 Sorry dog, the main power system of a series being introduced in volume 7 of the manga is *way late*. Nen is goated, it’s just not congruent with how the story was set up. Killua’s non-knowledge of Nen considering his family is most egregious

@theedandy @bibiiking11 Nen is not introduced way late it’s the second arc of the series (if rescuing Killua is an “arc” then 3). I think it is very clear especially on rewatch/re-read that Nen or some similar power was planned from the start.

@bibiiking11 I love both, but hxh’s worldbuilding strikes me as more “making up as we go along” than OP. Nen is introduced way late, countries a wholly imported over from real life etc. OP’s world feels like *the point* of the story. Hxh’s world feels like it does what it needs to per chapter
