Situated approximately 7,500 light-years away, these massive, hot stars—some 50 times the mass of the Sun—emit intense radiation and stellar winds. I’m back, but the system is still recovering. A massive migraine attack knocked me completely offline yesterday, one of those days where the pressure in your head just forces a total shutdown. It’s the price you pay when your mind is running too many high-stakes threads at once: too many ideas, too many projects, and that constant, grinding noise of a thousand worries.
But here’s the strange part: I actually dreamed. For me, that’s as rare as a lottery jackpot. I almost never see anything behind my eyes when I sleep. This time, it was about jealousy. A story that’s been dead and buried for a long time, yet there it was, vivid and uninvited. I’m not sure if I’ll share the details yet, or if it’s just my brain’s way of clearing out old, corrupted data while the body is paralyzed.
To everyone else fighting these storms: I know those days. The days where you’re completely incapable of even the simplest task. Where you’re just a spectator in your own burnout. I’m still drained, but the audit continues.

and the people who built it are in court arguing about it
i’m talking about Elon Musk vs OpenAI
here’s what i’ve found:

▫️why this case feels bigger than celebrity beef
you might’ve seen @elonmusk vs @sama everywhere, and it looks like another rich guys fight.
but ppl care because of what Musk is asking from court:
i) he wants OpenAI pushed back closer to nonprofit
ii) he wants leadership like Altman & Brockman removed
iii) he asks up to around $150B in damages
and the weird part is the money doesn’t go to him.
it goes to OpenAI’s nonprofit side.
so he says he is “saving a charity”, while OpenAI says he is trying to slow a competitor, because now he runs xAI.
▫️the original OpenAI promise
OpenAI started in 2015 as a nonprofit.
the idea was simple.
build strong AI, share research, and don’t let big tech control everything.
Musk helped fund early, around $40M.
emails from that time show they talked about AGI risk, open research, and limits of a nonprofit.
but there was a problem from the start:
• top AI ppl were expensive
• nonprofit couldn’t pay like big tech
• they still needed talent to compete
so money pressure was there from day one.
now OpenAI works closely w/ Microsoft and sits near $1T valuation.
▫️where the relationship broke
things got tense around 2017–2018.
AI got more expensive and nonprofit looked too weak for that scale.
Musk pushed for more control.
OpenAI says he wanted big power inside the company.
Musk says he wanted to protect the mission.
• Musk talked about more control or even Tesla merger
• OpenAI explored for-profit structure to raise money
• tension kept growing between mission and money
he left in 2018.
OpenAI created a capped-profit model in 2019.
then ChatGPT in 2022 changed everything.
money came in fast and the old story didn’t match what OpenAI became.
▫️what Musk is accusing them of
Musk is very direct in court:
i) they used nonprofit mission to get funding and trust
ii) later they moved toward profit and big deals
iii) Microsoft changed incentives around OpenAI
iv) leadership benefited while mission became weaker
v) OpenAI should go back closer to nonprofit roots
he called it “stealing a charity”.
that line works because it’s simple.
someone funds a nonprofit, it becomes huge, then they argue about what it was meant to be.
he also said he felt like a “fool” for funding w/o equity.
▫️what OpenAI says back
OpenAI says Musk knew AI needs big money.
they point to emails where he discussed for-profit ideas.
and they push this:
• he wanted control and didn’t get it
• he left the company
• he built xAI later
• he came back w/ lawsuit after OpenAI became huge
they also ask why xAI is not nonprofit if that matters so much.
and they say regulators approved their structure.
▫️the court drama rn
Musk testified for about 3 days.
he said he felt like a “fool”.
lawyers pushed him on emails, control demands, and past talks.
he said some questions were trying to trick him.
judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers stepped in a few times:
• she stopped AI doom talk like “AI can kill us”
• she pushed focus back to legal issues
• she limited repeated emotional lines
next witnesses may include Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and Satya Nadella.
emails, texts, and internal notes are now public.
▫️why this matters outside Silicon Valley
this case can affect more than OpenAI.
if Musk wins:
• OpenAI structure may be forced to change
• leadership may face pressure
• IPO plans can get hit
if OpenAI wins:
• this hybrid model becomes normal
• other AI companies can follow same path
AI started w/ big words like “humanity” and “open”.
now it’s a fight about control, money, Microsoft, and who changed the deal first...
