buckle up friends. those portfolios could see more red days. 👇 apparently, iran backed houthi militant group is considering closing bab al-mandab which is another global maritime choke point that connects the red sea with the gulf of aden and indian ocean. saudi arabia built an oil pipeline from the persian gulf to the red sea to ensure continued oil exports in case the strait of hormuz is closed. the pipeline is currently pumping 7 million barrels of oil per day. iran is not about to let saudi arabia get away with it hence the decision to activate the houthis to ensure all gulf states including saudi arabia feel the squeeze for being us allies. closing bab al-mandab means europe will not get supplies from east asia or ships will have to take a longer route around africa. if bab al-mandab is closed, oil will skyrocket and you know what that means for the market.
