Finding myself going back to RSS/Atom feeds a lot more recently. There's a lot more higher quality longform and a lot less slop intended to provoke. Any product that happens to look a bit different today but that has fundamentally the same incentive structures will eventually converge to the same black hole at the center of gravity well. We should bring back RSS - it's open, pervasive, hackable. Download a client, e.g. NetNewsWire (or vibe code one) Cold start: example of getting off the ground, here is a list of 92 RSS feeds of blogs that were most popular on HN in 2025: gist.github.com/emschwartz/e6d… Works great and you will lose a lot fewer brain cells. I don't know, something has to change.

I had to change like 3 tissues while watching this. Thank you for bringing us along this journey, it was truly inspirational. You don't often get to see all of the blood, sweat and tears that go into creating a big project. Also loved all of the monogatari references lol

I’ve been programming for 16 years. It still annoys me that restarting a service weekly is an industry-wide accepted solution to fixing memory leaks.

Takopi's Original Sin is literally 10/10 The visuals, the voice acting, the music... it all hits you like an isekai truck of happiness-pi. This anime tells a better story in 6 episodes, than some shows do in 6 seasons.

@kerematam @AdamRackis Zustand is too permissive of anti-patterns. Xstate, Xstate-store, or even Redux are better in the long run (and Xstate is particularly suited to exactly the situation outlined in that blog post).

I have a question about, of all things, React I'm 99% sure I remember a highly respected React core member (Sophie) advising that you memoize context values to help avoid re-renders BUT in my own testing it seems this component's *parent* re-rendering always re-renders it, and its children. Does that advice presume that you'll have memoized components underneath this context provider, so that passing the context value won't break those components' memoizations?
