Well, does that mean they’re all collectively admitting they cannot independently sustain and win a war against Iran without US help? I doubt that. I think the combined forces of GCC nationa could initiate and win a war against Iran. I’m pretty sure they wanted to get involved but the US didn’t let them.

Now it makes perfect sense why the GCC didn’t rush to jump into this war alongside Trump. When your ally swings wildly between escalation and deal-making … One minute talking war, the next chasing an agreement with the very aggressive regime firing thousands of missiles at you, hesitation isn’t weakness, it’s prudence. After absorbing over 6,000 ballistic missiles and drones, the Gulf monarchies had every reason to act. But Trump’s erratic signals and obsession with a deal over decisive action made caution the only rational and wise choice.

@jakluge I don’t know about that. As long as the blockade continues they will continue to lose leverage. If the regime cannot pay its members and if the economy collapses, they will lose total control. Their best option is to agree to a deal ASAP to prevent total collapse.

Iran knows that its leverage in negotiations only grows over time. That's a strong incentive to slow down talks. The only way the US can get a quick deal is if Iran fears a ground invasion. But it's unclear if that is a credible threat, because it would be so unpopular in the US.
