@C_A_P_117 @jasonc_nc The 'mom-and-pop' stores you're describing don't exist. The best you'll get is a farm-stand or gas station with produce, which the DG actually complements instead of replaces. Sometimes it's nice not to drive an hour for AA batteries and cough drops.

@jasonc_nc Literally no one who lives near one says this, especially anyone who knows any mom and pop shops in town. They are parasites. They employ 3 people to sell us mass produced junk for 25% more than any other store, and run out of business mom and pops that employ dozens of people.

@RigTyrsson @Erik_Haile @haprho I think film will stick around for artistic purposes, but stuff like tape is barely holding on. Magnetic coatings are very complicated and sometimes trade secrets. And there are some new tape players, but there only seems to be one Chinese mechanism still produced, and it's crap.

In fact, camera film and cassettes are on the shelf at Walgreens. The other things on Amazon are brand new. I checked, thinking that it would be NOS. But it's still in production, just at low volume apparently due to shrinking demand. The only thing I didn't find new were CRT televisions. There are many of those used on E-Bay and Etsy though, so you're right on that one.

@osoba_ha_zaru @that_one_mook Nope, no way out. People argue about what it will be like to miss the people who didn't make it. People also argue about what it would be like to go there. The Bible doesn't describe hell very much other than saying it's very unpleasant and that you can never leave.

@osoba_ha_zaru @that_one_mook We think that once you go to hell, there's no way to get out, and that you'll experience it for eternity. It's scary to think about going yourself, but at the same time we're told to love our neighbors too. It's scary to imagine them being stuck there!

@osoba_ha_zaru @that_one_mook There are issues we get less bothered about, like how the Church should be organized and how priests or pastors should be dressed, or what days holidays should be on. We still think those are important but probably not sending people to hell. People still like to yell and argue.

Some think you have to do certain rituals, some think you only have to believe in God, some a mixture and so on. That's when we can get quite angry, because we think getting it wrong means you go to hell.

@wrowclif The other day my printer inexplicably stopped printing. Devices still remembered it, printer turned on fine, very confused. Scanning the devices on the network & not seeing it, I found out one of the ports on my router died. Just one, rest were fine. Never had that happen before.

One really helpful thing about our printer is that it lists itself twice in the print menu, but only one of them actually works, and good luck remembering which.
