Just had a meeting with a customer where the one guy said, "Wayne, I just want you to know you're the best person I've ever met at translating tech speak into normal people language"

It's not the number of chats with unread messages.
Nor, from what I can tell, is it the total number of unread messages.
It's just a random number. Sometimes displayed, sometimes not.
