@PinchofPeppers Stay away from that new show on Amazon, Company Retreat. Everyone is an actor except one guy they hire as an intern, and they make things as uncomfortable as possible. 😭 I literally had to put on headphones and try to ignore it while my husband was watching.

Movies where a character embarrasses themselves are worse than getting shot. I genuinely have to pause the movie to do a lap around my living room so that I don't jump off a building. Second-hand embarrassment is agony untold.

A much needed reminder : only the lawsuit with Blake lively has been settled, Justin Baldoni's studio has four more different lawsuits against them, which includes claims of sexual discrimination (Ofc), racial discrimination and plagiarism.

@authorslmurray Whoops! No, it's betabooks.co and it is, in fact, still there. You just have to type in the right url. 😄 There's a reader directory that costs $15 a month, and I've met some wonderful beta readers that way. You can pause it easily when you don't need it.

Just found out Blake Lively is set to play the main character in a movie adaptation of my favorite book at the moment, “we used to live here”. This ruined my day.

There’s no popular definition for a term of law, just people lying and being hyperbolic. There were thousands of posts yesterday accusing him of statutory rape, it’s incorrect and I addressed it, on my own. I already said he was skeevy, it was gross, etc. To lie and say he’s a rapist when he hasn’t been convicted of rape it’s disgusting as well and no, it’s not okay to call skeevy people rapists. It’s actually actionable.

Russell Brand sleeping with a 16 year old at the age of 30 was gross. It was skeevy. It was nasty. 16 years old is the age of consent in England. It was not statutory rape. Words matter and if we misuse them to be hyperbolic it erodes trust.

Should I change my gynecologist? During my annual check-up I asked if she could also check on my breasts this time, simply because she has never done so in the past couple years. And her reply was a cold "Why?" as if I'd need a reason to do preventive care?😭 I suppose she was

@Halalcoholism It seems pretty obvious that this woman is writing fiction and they're publishing it as fact. Do they even care how much damage they might be doing to their readership?

I genuienly don't care how fast anyone reads and I think its (like most on booktwt) a stupid discussion BUT as a self proclaimed slow reader I was always curious do fast readers have time to picture every scene in their minds or do you guys just read the words

I’m not telling you what to do, but many of us don’t use beta readers, so unless you have some you’d trust with your life, maybe right now is not a good time to start looking. I’ve seen dozens of angry/sad “My beta reader told me they fed my book to AI” posts, and fuck that.

@SpiritsofIdaho I think most good stories are a little disconnected from reality, which is what allows us to feel them so deeply. Fear doesn't hold us back bc we know we could never be in those situations for real.

I had an existential crisis the other day I was re-writing a chapter in a mystery/adventure book, and I thought, “How would real people deal with this situation?” which led to the question of “how would I have dealt with this situation?” which led to the thought that, in my life, I would never have been in this situation. It made me realize a couple of things, like (1) there are probably fewer than 1 percent of people who live lives depicted in 99 percent of the adventure/action books, and (2) I have lived a very dull life. But the actual question is: how does a writer reconcile reality with fiction if they are writing about believable people?

Have any self-published, do-it-all authors ever realized too late that they somehow left out an entire chapter in their final manuscript?!? Good lord.

@justinwcronk Hi Justin. Whats with Chapter 15 in the Kindle eBook. Just says Chapter 15 "the departure" then goes straight to chapter 16.
